Sorry Pupsi, the OZ split rims look wrong....well the wide ones at the back make the car very Barry....

The whole ethos of the E500 was a wolf in sheeps clothing, there should be a subtlety to the outward appearance of the vehicle, there's something that looks right with a set of AMG Aero I's. Or if you can find them, Rial "M" rims in 18" (very very rare).

The back wheels at 10" are an inch and a half too wide, a half inch drop wouldn't look much different than now.

All IMO of course.

It might be worth putting both front (narrower wheels) on the same side of the car, take a look at it then.....I think 8.5" rears the same as the fronts will look right.

Right now it reminds me of the carlos fandango Panama advert:crazy:....

For those too young to remember:-

I agree with the Back wheels

Just looks wrong, Stick out way to far and even if you sort the gap the rim looks wrong. Looks like the euro style Golf Gtis and I don't like them either.

Oh and sticking out beyong the body is illegal isn't it? Hence the AMG's have the little lips...

Oh and I'm not keen on wind deflectors either.

Again imho

Jay is after a set of 10 inch wide split rims for his widebosy SEC if you want to get rid of them , he may be interested ...

They are a bit wide for that car .... sorry .... :o

hi.

Yeah just looked at the pics in the gallery and i think you're right - the rears look wrong. Sorry!

however if Pupsi likes them then its his car and should enjoy them

Yup, these will suit Gen II widebody SEC better then Penta's (which were generally a Gen 1 design - although not absolute)

They are lovely wheels.. but agreed.. the rears stick out too far.. which I think is illegal.

Pupsi; lovely wheels but not on your cracking car. I agree with Mud and others that the back looks wrong.

Alternatives.....

I think these are 2 piece R129 wheels but the offset sits them further inboard...still quite wide.

right car wrong wheels on the back .put the old rims back on & swap the e500 on the boot for a 300d just for fun :)

Agree, sorry pupsi they arent the wheels for your car... There are only a few wheels that suit the 500E...

Howard - not looking anymore, bought some pentas!

what everyone else has said except I quite like the wind deflectors

The wheels just don't suit the car

Sorry pupsi, when you MOT it with those wheels it will fail and if a bobby catches see's you you'll get pulled over and probably fined.

I know the rears look wrong fellas, hence why i said in my thread that i need to reduce the dish or stretch the rear tyres.
Not too keen on stretching tyres as it makes the car unsafe, so may have to go the route of reducing the dish.

I do however think the fronts look and fit awesome, just need to sort out the rears.

Also, i like the wind deflectors

Again, also, the car isnt being driven anywhere, just sitting where it is for the moment, so no worries of illegality (if thats a word!)

Also also lol, these wheels only came in one offset right? As far as i know they didn't come in a higher offset???
Apart from the 8.5s all round with 30 offset but that would mean having to buy another set of wheels just to take 2!

I wont be changing to a different set of wheels as ive had my heart set on these, so i will make them fit!

Don't think you are going to be able to mate , without massively flaring the rear arches

Just viewed the pics, those rears will never be legal. You will need to fit massive flared arches and door mouldings.

"Wide Body" kit maybe?

As i said, am likely to reduce the dishes. Wont be messing with the body in anyway, want to return it to factory if ever needed.
I said i wont change the actual wheels, but i will change the dish.

The OZ's came in various ET's I've had a few with et's as high as +43....however, the offsett of the dish is required to clear the brake calipers you have (which being Porsche specced are quite large) that means in reality you have to drop the rears to 8.5" to make it look right and more importantly..legal....

The easy way to see if this will look right is try the front wheel on the rear...see what it looks like on one side of the car.

Also, reducing the lip of the rear 10" rim changes the ET....I'd have to do some head sctraching to actually work out what is would reduce it too but reduce it it would.
