Pupsi's E500

Earlier in this thread I said I was going to make a joke about that story and decided against it, I thought it was too early but apparently it isn't! ;)

I thought it might be good to start the day with a joke....those individuals who got a refund when they shouldn't have surely won't mind :D :D :D

You'll need the bespoke OZ fastener tools to remove the 35 fasteners on each wheel, which are 10-point sockets, 8mm and 10mm. I have the set if you want to come round and use or i am happy to fit the dishes for you. Shouldn't take more than 50 mins each wheel.

You'll also need RVT sealant, to seal the inner and outer rim once you have put the new dish on. RVT sealant is availne from auto stores like Partco. I have a few tubes at home.

cheers

I am a bit confused with the E500 belonging to Pupsi and the 500E belonging to Talbir.
I thought the E500 was just a normal (?) E-class with a 5 litre engine and the 500E was special limited edition built in conjunction with Porsche and only available in LHD.In his pictures the car belonging to Pupsi is LHD with the flared arches, but he says it is a E500.I thought these were the traits of a 500E.

Can someone help me?

The ***E became E*** when facelifted.

Definitely going to have to take you up on that offer very soon Talbir!

Hi,

The E500 and the 500E are exactly the same.

The E500 is the facelift (newer parts/mouldings) than the 500E.

Both are the W124 porsche-built super-saloons!

Bill.

Splitting hairs, but the e500 does have 7bhp less.....

:D :D

Cheers guys, that sort of clears it all up.
So the newer shape E500 is a normal production model? I looked them up on e-bay,they seem quite cheap now.
We don't see anything of that calibre here, all we have is 3 W202's, The rest are E-Classes.All these are taxi's.There is one S class taxi that is 2 years old with 240,000 km's on the clock and there is someone floating around in an S430 4matic (whatever the hell that is).

No. The E500 is a special model built by Porsche, just the same as the 500E.

Wowzer,Dieselman. You are quick on the keyboard,it is 12.50am here!!.

So,the newer shape E500's up for sale on e-bay are just normal production cars.I am talking about Y to 54 plates, and thereabouts. The question arises because we do not do big mileage here so the so the mpg is pretty immaterial.
I could buy one in the UK,drive it here, pop back to blighty every 6 months for tax purposes and still be cushty with the law.
Sounds good and could quite possibly happen.

Yeah sorry but have to say this is really not to my taste! I admire the work that's gone in to it for sure (lots of effort and hard earned spent) but can't agree with the outcome. It's too low and the wheels are all wrong for the body style; too 80s on a 90s sleeper body :/

Very nice e500 even so - right colour, spec etc enjoy!

Nice gear knob Pupsi that will looks great once fitted.

Looking good, I see you have changed the big mirror to the drivers side style one. You should colour code the covers as they give the car a pre-facelift look.

Pupsi,

where did you get your fridge from? Is ebay the best bet? I'm looking for one myself.
