My W203 had been at Manchester Aiport 'meet and greet' for 2 weeks and from landing on Friday evening took me over 90 mins to get it back plus it was absolutely filthy - covered in bird muck, feathers and tree debris. Looked for all the world like it had been parked in a farmyard!! Going to be some heavy conversations tomorrow I can tell you!

Anyway, I also noticed on Saturday morning that both offside tyres were down to 10psi (nearside were both OK) No visible damage and after re-inflating seem to be holding the air fine. No sign of anybody removing the dust caps - the car was so dirty it would have been noticable.

Puzzzled as to why it was just the offside wheels and both down to the same psi. Any ideas?

If you get stuck in the mud, isn't lowering the tyre pressures one way to get out of the mud?

Interesting idea - thanks. No mud, just general dirt. Also no sign of dust caps being removed.

"Curiouser and Curiouser", said Alice.

Interested to know what signs you'd expect as a giveaway that dust caps had been removed?

Bit like saying I can tell how many times the screw cap has been off the Orange squash!

See your point. Guess I just assumed that there would have been fingermarks etc. in the vicinity and also that any scrote willing to deflate the tyres would not have been bothered to replace them?

Porous alloys, dirty rim seals, leaking valves, nails in tyres? Did you note the mileage before and after the 2 weeks " storage" mischief making a distinct possibility- Sure you got the same wheels/tyres?

Considered these but it is the fact that it's only the 2 offside affected that is puzzling. It has been stood still quite a lot since I got it (working away a lot at the moment) and had not a problem up till now.

Just spoken to Manchester airport Customer Care who do at least sound professional and I'll email tham later (My job is handling CEO level complaints for a telecoms company so know what the triggers are!)

The n/s has been down a pothole or up a kurb on that side resulting in damaged wheels so now the tyre's don't quite sit right on the rim? They were low on pressure before and you did not notice?
