Just had car serviced yesterday and STAR revealed:

DCM-FL - Door control module front left
9208 The signal line of component M21/1r2 (Mirror adjustment potentiometer) has short circuit or open circuit or the component is defective
9209 The signal line of component M21/1r3 (Mirror adjustment potentiometer) has short circuit or open circuit or the component is defective
DCM-FR - Door control module front right
9211 There is a discontinuity in the line to component M21/2r1 (Mirror heater) or the component is defective

However, mirror adjustment on both seems fine but the right heated mirror not working (as it says) Anybody know if the fix is simple? As it is driver side, not a huge problem

Also, the guy I used is Mercedes trained and has STAR but by his own admission is not expert in navigating the menus. Anybody know the sequence to set mirror auto-fold please?

I'd put money on the loom being broken where they fold.

Can't buy the loom separately so it's a new mirror (£) or as some of us have done a repair. I think Druk posted a thread on this.

Not too bad a job, if a little fiddly.

I am having problems with the indicator bulb in the passenger wing mirror. It takes notions, working sometimes and then not working at all. I took the mirror glass out and checked connections, which are all good but indicator will not flash at all.
Is there a scientific means of checking for a fault in the cables etc?

Yup. Take it off and dissemble the wiring loom, which will be cracked.

This thread will help

Having just got a star system myself and been tinkering with it on my car. I found the option to set the mirrors is fairly simple and you just need to read the menu options carefully.
Interestingly, my car was set up for memory seats and mirrors even though it hasn't got them or ever had them as far as I know. A couple of clicks later they were correctly configured.
I will set it up again and post a rough guide of what to look for if you like.

That would be fantastic (and just what this forum is all about!)

Many thanks

Okay will do. Give me a day or two.

As promised here is quick how-to on setting up the mirrors and seats in star.
Hopefully you know enough to get into star, choose your vehicle and get to the first menu where the fun begins; Main groups.

Then select control units and press F2.

Then select Seats and Doors option, press F2.

Select in turn the mirror you want and press F2.

Select control unit adaptations, again pressing F2 where the interesting and potentially dangerous stuff resides.

Press F2 and it will do exactly what it says.

Select which ever option you want to change, press F2 and place the mouse pointer over the activated/deactivated button. Set the desired option and press F3. Follow the on-screen instructions as some of them ask if you really want to do this.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS read, read and read again what the screen is asking you, as it has the potential to ruin your whole day with an ill thought through click.

But having said that, the system is not that difficult to use, just use it wisely and if you are not sure, do not click yes. Press F1. Step away from the computer and ask on here for advice.

Hope that helps.
Tony
