No need to double click on re entry. The system reverts to default with one . đź‘Ť

Double locking was around in the 80's iirc my first ford escort had it , it was then to disable interior door handles ,should some scrote decide to smash the glass to gain entry.

I just double pressed lock on my remote, went to the car and confirmed keyless entry was disable, I then used the Mercedes me app to unlock the car & sat in it,

foot on brake peddle and pressed the on button and the car said to put the key in the tray.

put the key carefully in tray so no buttons are pressed and I can start the car.

take key carefully out of tray so as not to press any buttons & I can continuously stop and start the engine with no prompts.

Pressed the button to stop the engine, exited car, closed the drivers door and locked the door by pressing the handle which confirmed keyless go on the key fob had activated without me pressing a button on the fob,

i repeated the above several times, obviously deactivating the fob with double click of lock between tries, and got the same results.

keyless reactivated on the fob without me pressing a button On the fob.

Drivers door does have nfc but I made sure to hold the key at least a foot from the handle in my left hand while pressing the lock handle with my right.

Hi , at the time of writing I am in Portugal.

Today while having my daily coffee a Mercedes parked outside the cafe , owner got out and did his remote car locking.

With my limited Portuguese I spoke to him and he was shocked that I knew his car was not locked.

I showed him how to lock the car and he tried to open the door and the car was locked.

It's a CANBus immobiliser that requires you to enter a PIN using the car's interior buttons before it will start.

I meant the feature where the car unlocks/locks as you approach/walk away?

Is that a Ghost specific feature?

Apologies no - that's a setting in the car. It's pretty cool, the closer you get the more things happen. First the puddle lights (which show the M symbol) come on, then the DRLs front and rear, and then when you're close to the door it unlocks. Didn't have that feature on the C43, not sure if it's available on any current models.

I’ve changed my stance on this.

I like to use keyless go and like having the handles pop out and light up for me as I approach.

So now, when I get home I don’t lock the car as I go indoors.

Instead as I get in the front door, I say “Alexa, ask Mercedes to lock my car” while I pop my keys in the Faraday box.

She then confirms it’s been locked, happy days.

Ok you got me, how do you do this with Alexa?

Just enable the Mercedes Me Skill in the Alexa app.

It’s fairly limited in terms of commands, but “Ask Mercedes to lock my car is one of them”.

Thank you, got it working but then realised what if somebody shouts the correct command through my letterbox to unlock the car?

Disabled again!

Or is unlocking not an option?

I don’t think there’s an Unlock command, for that very reason.

I can ask Alexa to turn our Ring alarm off, but she won’t do it without first asking me for a PIN number.
