Hey guys, wondering if I could get some advice
So we have a 1980 SL in the garage at the momement which needs the rear hubs changed. The discs are off and the shafts out and we're at the stage where we want to get the hub off only....it looks like it needs a special tool. On the inside of the hub (where the shaft goes in) there looks like a nut with 4 slots. The customer put us through to his merc mechanic in Germany who said it needs a tool however it's possible to chisel it out. Calling up our local merc dealer we were told we have to register on some site to get tools and didn't even say if they had it in stock.
So my question is, does anyone have any experience with this? Is it possible to chisel it loose, and then chisel a new one on again?
Many thanks!
