R129 burning rich

My R129 300Sl 3.0 litre seems to be burning quite rich. When I park the car I can smell a 'rich' petrol smell. How do you adjust the carburetor/air intake? And would this be the likely problem? Car is going in for a service next week so I may just ask them to do it instead.

Your car dosent have a carburetor, it has old style bosch mechanical fuel injection. Also it should only be adjusted by a garage that know that system properly, not many do.

As above! The c/o mixture is easily adjusted via a 3mm alen bolt.
You would need to see how rich it's running first though as other factors may be causing the engine to run rich

Quite agree. Find out what else is amiss as adjusting the mixture randomly is unlikely to be the answer.
