Rear view camera ??

Yes, it seems that on ML/GL if you retrofit most stuff its 2->2.5 times more than the original factory (inc labour). I suspect same is true for new S/CL/C class
Hi Richard,
It was my poor attempt at humour :)

The linguatronic for the E-class is about £320, but Braybrooks would charge in excess of £800 and I doubt there is ANYWHERE near the amount of work\labour etc involved in this retro fit.

Installing a rear view camera sounds a horrendous task and something that is beyound us mere mortals.

Regards
John

Thats not a bad price to be honest. Is it a current price? VAT included?

Linguatronic involves removing the steering wheel, dismantling the internals to fit the new switching, careful reassembly of airbag wiring and torqueing up the steering wheel bolt. Then there is locating the VCS box, getting fused power and earth to it, joining into the fibre bus, tidying up the cables and then coding...........There is also one piece of very very valuable info that if you dont heed, can end up costing you a fortune in replacement parts;) so there is a risk element aswell. Buying the parts alone isnt a cheap exercise!

:o :) Excellent point,
I did not want to sound to OTT and quoted a figure Braybrook supplied to me a couple of years agom but our wonderful Prime Minister has kept inflation down so I expect the price to be within a couple of per cent! :o

Shall we alter that figure to £1200?

Regards
John

Ooops I forgot at how quick you are at removing panels :D  Five minutes taking the trim off, five minutes to install, five minutes re-fitting, thirty minute tea-break, and fifteen minutes to do paperwork, tidy up, and valet the car. :D (joke)

Ho ho ho John ;) Some panels do come off very quickly. I recall a certain air vent/glove box not too long ago that took me ages!!!! Very frustrating.

Anyway, here are the pictures of the ML with the seats out and the carpet up!
