Recharged battery again and have Replace Key message. Cant drive!

My battery died again. So I ordered new one from MB. Was going to collect it but had to recharge the old one first.... After recharge I put it back, started the car and run it for 10 min to warm up the engine.. Then stopped and turned back in half an hour to drive for the battery....

Started the car was about to drive off but it started to flash... and diplayed Replace Key message. The indicators were flashing, it started to try to lock unlock the alarm, then windscreen blades started to run. boot get opened.. nightmare.

I tried my spare key - the same thing....

I read something about re-syncing the keyfob but I cant find precise instruction for W211 2002. Please help!

Phew! Thanks to the google I found the procedure of the key re-sync. After that everything started to work as usual. Got new battery. Hope no problem for 3 yrs at least :bannana:

For those interested. Key re-sync.

1. insert key, turn to position 2 (2 click)
2. turn back and remove key
3. (within 10 sec) press and hold Close button on the key and press Open button 5 times
4. release Close button
5. press either Close or Open button once.

BTW Nobody from MB service dept bothered to call although I left message. Useless.
