Remap gains

Hi all, New to the forum and I won't pretend to know much about remaps so basically here for the knowledge. I have had my 2008 e280 for two months. Never been on a dyno but the figures state that it's 227bhp stock. For me that sounds brilliant and it feels awesome. What would be the main benefits of a remap for me? And how does it affect the all important MPG?
227 for a 280???? Mines 187hp

I chap on that group i added you to has a e320 cdi, Mapped by GAD, 312bhp with dyno graph to prove. Think they may have done other stuff on it too.

Wow, where's that? Is he running any other mods?

Its not 227bhp, its 187bhp like mine was. I've got the Celtic map on mine which supposedly makes it 290bhp, I'm not sure if it is indeed that much but it certainly goes a lot better for it. I've had 250bhp in a lighter manual car before and it was easily faster, but the E-Class is a much heavier car coupled with a poor performing automatic gearbox.

I wouldn't say MPG is any better or any worse tbh, I don't use mine very often so when I do I don't tend to drive it with MPG in mind.

that's really helpful, thx :-) I was considering a remap but insurance prices have gone crazy again, in mapped is about £400 and mapped is £600!!!! I think I'll have to live with stock

Ok what would happen if you bought a car which you didnt know was already mapped and you had a accident?

How do you know your car is not mapped? get where this is going lol

I see where your going Gav, I'm sure the panzer Vicki has was mapped. I supposed you could always argue that it came like that and you didn't know but it would concern me that it could be proven that I'd mapped it

Tbh i think Karls e320 cdi is mapped but he doesn't know, so how does that sit if he had a accident and it turned out his actually was?

Had an Audi Allroad Diesel a couple of years back.

Always seemed pretty lively (I was coming from a W124 320CE) and I was generally happy with it until it blew up it's torque converter.

Sold it soon after and it was only after I had a clear out that I found the CD from the tuning firm....the car had been remapped and I had no idea. Obviously the blown torque converter should have been a clue.

My concience is still clear bacause I had no idea, but the Bill might not see it that way. On the other hand, how would they know?
