Remote start

technically, if your car is still locked, in park, with the handbrake engaged, you would be seriously unlucky if someone could prove it was left in a state whrere it could cause a hazard, especially on your own driveway, more stupid laws that someone got paid far too much to dream up !

On the other hand, if you had all those things, the police would be unlikely to get in.:thumb:

You wouldn't need all those things, just to live on a gypsy site, they don't go into those anyway ! ... watched an episode of a police thing where they followed a stolen car with the helicopter, into a gypsy site and the following cop car just stopped at the entrance and then left and the narrator gave some crap about them getting away this time

I have remote start on my bike (Seems silly I know, but better for the engine to warm up before I start riding it (plus it was a feature of the alarm when I fitted it :p )

What about insurance implications?

I'm sure if it was stolen while it was warming up, and you were eating your breakfast, the ins co would say that you hadn't taken reasonable steps to safeguard your car.

I can 110% confirm that remote start and turbo timers are illegal in the UK, the offence under the road traffic act is leaving a running vehicle unsupervised and therefore any device that facilitates this is not allowed to be fitted to UK vehicles.

My understanding is that if the car is locked and in a private place such as a driveway, then it is permitted.

It is not illegal to fit these, just use them in a public place.

With a properly installed system like a Clifford even if someone got into the car they wouldnt be able to drive it away without the key.
