Hello.

Would be greatful for any help / reference text on this procedure. Can anyone suggest a decent maintainence manual as heard that the Haynes item is not that good

Wierd oil leak; 1 minute it streams out, the next minute its dry as a bone; so much so that I took it into Thwaites (phil) in Gateshead and they could not see where it was leaking from. Debatable.

Any way I suspect myself that this is the culprit as it the leak eminates from centre front of engine case and ends up running back under the sump.

I have had this car for a few months now and it has become a labour of love:

Parts so far:

Replacement Petrol tank
Discs? Pads front and back.
Parking brake shoes
Propshaft bearing and flexi joint.
Near side blinker replacement
Exhaust manifold - still searching:confused:
Rear complete Bumper- Still searching

Bought two new wings from Hadrian panels but very dissapointed and I wont be putting them on the car. They are paper thin and a disgrace, it serves me right for trying to buy cheap. Mercedes dealers Synter want £180 per unit for OE / Germany...Ouch.

Anyway would be greatful for help on the oil ring procedure...Im going back into the garage to continue hiding more parts from the other half which have just arrived:bannana:

Sometime seals leak through old age etc but it can also be excess crankshaft end float so the shaft is moving up and down the seal. Every time you put foot on the clutch you load the crankshaft, usually pushing it forward against thrust bearing. Obviously less of a problem with an auto box. This what saw off my BMW with 255k on.
