I have a stretched limo which most folks think is a red coloured Sprinter. Unfortunately the sun is bleaching the paint and I'm seriously considering getting the vehicle resprayed to a more practical colour.

The question is what colour should I spray it?

I would love to get it sprayed the same colour as the car but what does the forum think?

This is it at present:

What about white van man?

A very clever member of this forum has reproduced these vans and this is an attempt at tealite blue

Has anyone got any suggestions on a colour that might suit a Sprinter?

Mega thanks to forum member Unit504 for there amazing work on changing the colour of my 'stretched limo'

Regards
John

Siiilllvvveeerrr always looks classy on a van limo.

Actually the tealite does look good and won't fade.

Why not just get it properly polished then pay someone to wax it regularly, it'll be a lot cheaper than a respray.

I've always liked the original red, but Tealite, Cubanite or Obsidian would be my choices for any Mercedes vehicle.

Why won't Tealight fade? OK might not fade as dramatically as Red but surely they all fade and this is about finding the least obvious fade?

I'd go for Silver, Cubanite or Brilliant. Obsidian will get too hot I would have thought so might as well consider that angle too.

If you wanted to go for a colour change then i would go for a MB Designo colour. Well they do a nice 3 tone vario blue colour....

Obsidian + limo tints all round.. and some Brabus alloys and exhaust. Lower it a little too :):):)

Or go completely bonkers and have it wrapped - how about a printed wrap in McLaren Mercedes F1 colours?

The Tealite blue one looks quite classy.
But definitely NOT white!

THANK YOU very much everyone. This is our second red Sprinter and I must confess to hoping the paint quality would have improved. We have used a porter cable on the beast but within a month or so the colour looks more a faded pink rather than a deep red.

The madness to my method is I am hoping that the metallic paints will have a stronger clear coat, which in turn will protect the base coat?

I must confess to considering silver; but silver....... :)
Certainly food for thought though and not dismisssed.

I'll be contacting our local bodyshop next week for advice.

I'm glad no one has suggested:

although one post came close :)

I suppose there is always:

I must confess the idea of alloy wheels hold some appeal.

I'm still leaning towards tealite twins

Thanks again,
John

Edit
The vehicle is fully air conditioned, but dark colours will still get the bodywork very HOT

Metallics dont fade due to the laquer coat. The fading is oxydisation of the paint coat, the laquer stops this because the air and water can't get to the pigment.

Red and blue are the worst colours for fading.

John make it a matching pair, the blue looks very good.

Both Cubanite and Silver are very good at looking clean even when they're quite dirty. That could be a plus as the limo stands around a lot. Plus, as Dieselman has pointed out, they have a lacquer coat which will help with all the seagulls you have in Torquay. :)

To aid security, you could go for black and add 'private ambulance' on the sides. NOBODY would want to break in!

But for the same reason John may not want to be laid out inside.

Not sure about the pimp mobile or indeed the Cubanite. I think the lighter colours make it look more Cough, Cough, van like and break up the flow of the lines where the windows intersect.

So far Tealite is my favourite, very classy.

Edit.

Adding onto my window line comment, whichever colour you go for have the gap between any windows coloured black either painted or black vynil.
This will give a continuous band and looks classy.
