Is it an Ex National Grid van then???

Truly shocking...

Living on the English riviera you should always go for something classy like this little french number and it would be cheaper than a respray.

In fact it's probably cheaper than a full tank of diesel.

So far Tealite is my favourite, very classy.

Edit.

Adding onto my window line comment, whichever colour you go for have the gap between any windows coloured black either painted or black vynil.
This will give a continuous band and looks classy.
Hi Dieselman,
I'm not quite sure I understand where your coming from with your last point?

Please note this is a question and NOT a criticism.

I have attached a couple more pictures to help try to get your point into my thick head.

Do you mean a black section just between the rear compartment windows, or between ALL the windows?

What about the rear doors? Would you recommend a black section there?

Your advice is both welcome and respected, along with everyone else's of course, although someone is objecting to the black version :)

My son has suggested a VW light metallic blue which is supposed to be just a touch richer than tealite? I'm not sure on that one (new river blue)

Thanks again,
Regards
John

I meant the rear compartment windows as due to the frontal windows being a different height the effect might be lost there.
I would probably do the rear doors as well to give a seamless look between the panes.
If it was done in vynil it could be tried and if not liked subsequently removed.

Does that make sense.

Oh, and your Son is just baised, stick to an MB colour..:)

Edit.

John, looking at the fresh views of the vehicle I would just get it professionaly polished and then sealed and waxed to feed the paint with some oils. Have it waxed regulalrly and it shouldn't fade.

I suspect you are just polishing the paint which isn't then offering enough protection.

Polishing will be a LOT cheaper than a respray, leaving some redies for wheels and trim as required.

Mmmmm - Want that for my French place! Can I? Can I? Can I?

John,

I'm sure you will already have thought of this as you are quite a fastidious type of guy ...

If you have it resprayed a different colour, to do it properly, you are going to have to strip everything out , engine and everything ...

Otherwise , if they just spray the bodywork , you are still going to have a red engine bay , under the carpets, behind the lights , etc etc ...

Which will make resale difficult, nothing worse than a car that has been sprayed a different colour and not done all over .... bear witness to the legions of 'flip' painted Corsas and Saxos that still have blue or white engine bays .....

Also , the V5 will still state that the limo is red ...

Just something to think about ....

H

A full 'proper' respray on the limo is gonna cost untold , you would be better off giving me the money you would spend on it in one lump sum and i will pop down every couple of months and T-cut it and give it a polish for you .... ;)

Go for Artic White...;)

PS. While your at it you may as well update your rear lenses to the face lift ones as well.

For a Limo it has to be Black, but in this case Brilliant Silver (with loads of clear coat) would look cool and sophisticated.

If you don't fancy MB colours you could always try House of Kolor http://www.houseofkolor.com

A Mercedes has to be silver....Always!

A Mercedes has to be silver....Always!
 ??Been in uniform for far too many years and prefer to go for what 'I' like, as opposed to what others deem correct. :)

Surely if we are talking about tradition, then ALL Mercedes-Benz should be like the DeLorean and not have any paint?

Silver or black
Thanks for the link Banjo, but black would make the vehicle like an oven. Dieselman has pointed out that our vehicle doesn't look too bad, but it is the front that gets hammered by the sun. The bonnet and the front above the windscreen are more pink than red and it is the high part that is impossible to get to? I'm sure we could devise a pole that could reach the high spots, but that would only tickle the bodywork and not achieve anything.

I must confess that I liked the very rich, deep candy red that was on your link and I would expect any metallic colour to be more resistant to the sun's effects, but I have no experience of these exotic paints?

What a pity black is a 'no, no' because of the heat problems. I think the 'A-Team' theme would impress our neighbours? It would certainly be a conversation piece.

Thanks for the input
John the silver fan

Why don't we all bring cleaning stuff to the GTG in August?
That way, you get a shiny vehicle at least once a year;) :D

If you want to keep the heat out you need a white roof like this perhaps.

:D I know your serious, but you lot are coming to my house for nourishment :) NOT punishment.

I am humbled by your offer and of course grateful, but hopefully by the middle of August this problem should be resolved one way or another.

Howard has raised a sensible point which I have considered, but my lay person thoughts are that vans\commercial vehicles tend to have paint jobs fairly regular? BT comes to mind with their fleet of vehicles., The last thing I would want however is for the door skin to be blue, then when it's opened the red is there for all to see, that would be a deal breaker.

I have absolutely NO idea of costs and have put my thoughts onto the forum before engaging mouth with the professionals.

I hope my tactless thoughts on 'silver' have not upset the numerous silver coloured car owners and at present a shade of this colour is on my list :o (about 99th  )

So far I'm leaning to-wards tealite, then either a shade of silver, or a deep metallic red. One of our old 210's was this colour and the boss quite liked it.

Price is obviously going to effect any decision and it could be that we simply get the beast professionally sorted?

Thanks again for the input.

John

I think any shade of red is asking for trouble given your reasons for the respray.
