If possible I would like to retro fit the Bi-Xenon lights to my CLK. I understand its not just the lights but also the sensors on the front and rear axles (I guess to detect ride height). Is this feasible at a reasonable cost or should I just stick with the standard lights?

I seem to remember from my old Ford days that it'll involve a complete loom change as well due to the uprated current required.

My knowledge might well be outdated or just plain wrong. But it's something to consider.

2 Bi-Xenon Headlights (There are also the ILS headlights)
1 Control Unit
1 Main Harness
1 Smaller one for the rear axle sensor
2 x Sensors with brackets for front and rear

As for the washer jets you will need a switch with a button, jets, tubes, a pump, a loom, a bumper, a crash bar with proper mounts for the washers etc.

I will be installing everything but the washing system next week! I had for some time only the simple bixenon headlights and they worked quite good! Now i will be retrofitting the ILS headlights!

Quite feasible! The CLK is very similar to the 203 and I did this on my 203.

Bi-xenon lights, approx £1800 from MB, but can be found on ebay. Just make sure they are genuine MB units.
The auto-levelling sensors and loom, only from MB and approx £150.

Swapping the headlights is simple and ~1hr Fitting the sensors and loom more involved, lots of trim to remove, plus wiper mech and front SAM ~5hrs

Setting up can be time consuming, getting the sensors correctly positioned. Can only be done using STAR

Xenons are soooo much better than standard halogens.

Would you also need the headlamp wash system?

Yes. I recently got an email from the local Mercedes-Benz dealer about the new 2012 MOT test changes and this is one of the new things they will be checking for.

2012 MOT Changes said:
Headlight requirements are updated to take account of the particular characteristics of High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps.

HID headlights can cause dazzle if they are dirty or aimed too high so car manufacturers must fit headlamp cleaning and levelling systems. A car will fail if a mandatory headlamp cleaning or levelling system is missing, doesn't work or is obviously defective.

Vehicles fitted with aftermarket HID systems must also be fitted with properly working washer and levelling systems.

Thanks for the replies all, I already have headlamp wash system on, I assume that will be standard and I don't need something different for the Bi-Xenons?

npuk, that's interesting about aftermarket systems also needing wash systems. My guess is that it will catch a lot of people out.

Off to Ebay now to look for headlamps, can anybody tell me the MB part numbers for the headlights?
