A New E Class 2.2 CDI came without a reversing camera... The MB 'Build Your Own' site gives the price of one (factory fitted presumably) of £360+ Are these able to be fitted after taking delivery my latest pride and joy?

I used comandonline.co.uk for a retrofit reverse camera to my C Class, they do a E Class kit for a 2014 MY car, it's at

W207 E Class Coupe Reversing Camera kit (MY2014 onward) | Reversing Cameras | Mercedes Retrofits | Comand Online Ltd

It's a little more than the price you quote, at £429 + delivery.

Not sure where you are, they are in Lightwater in Surrey and do offer a fitting service if required - not too sure how far they'll come to fit it though? I'm in the North East of Scotland so I had to tackle the fitting myself, it wasn't too bad a job really, they do supply fairly good intructions.

Hope this helps.

You do need COMAND to add the reverse camera.

We only do this stuff in our workshop because (a) doing in in rain is not clever as doors / boot are open, panels and electronics are exposed and (b) we code the car with Star Diagnosis that has to be "online" when we code it and of course there would be no mobile data signal when we needed it ..

Cheers

Richard

Thanks to both of you.

The Car is fitted with a 'COMAND' media centre Sat nav and CD / DVD player. All very 'Swish' and new and I'm still wading through 'Gizmos' one by one.....

Still, I found that my lovely Welsh Opera/ pop star Katherine Jenkins sounds just as good on this car as she did on the old one

The dealer is 'on the job' and is to get back to me soon... I'll bide my time till he comes up with an answer

Thanks again

Hi

Where are you ? Make a trip to Lightwater and we can install that (genuine MB parts, data record at MB updated etc) for you !

Richard

Hi Richard I'm up in the North East in Blyth near Newcastle. A bit of a trip to your neck of the woods.... however, the MB main dealer is looking into it and is to get back to me with prices etc. asap. Thanks for your reply

If its the Sytner dealership then good luck. We've had dealings with them before where they simply refuse to do retrofits and even say they cant be done! :wallbash:

This is very late Alfie, ( but I've been 'Proper Poorly!") and the affected Vehicle has been replaced twice via ongoing lease hold . I have to say, the Syntner, Newcastle dealership has always ben of great help and although they could not fit a camera, they passed me along to a nearby Car radio Shop ( with whom I have been a regular customer over the years) and they sorted it out within a few hours. Since then when changing cars at the end of two lease periods I made sure that the camera was of the factory fitted type. Both Cars ( an E Class and my current A Class ( See Avatar) were fitted as ordered and work very well indeed.
