I just thought I'd give this a mention, seeing as there are seemingly one or two Retro-Rides members on here besides myself.

2012 will mark the fifth anniversary of 'The Gathering', which moved to its' new home at the glorious, history-steeped Prescott Hillclimb venue last year after outgrowing the Haynes Motor Museum where it was held in 2009 and 2010.

Those of you who frequent Retro-Rides will be aware of the extremely broad church of cars and characters that are represented within its' membership, and that's the same chilled-out vibe that permeates the air at The Gathering. For me it's the most unmissable show of the summer.

Here are one or two (non-M-B) pics that I took at last year's event to give you an idea what to expect.

There are still weekend camping tickets available at £25 including Sunday show entry (limited to 450, but highly recommended...) I camped Friday and Saturday last year, and it was a (rather drunken, in my case) hoot. Advance day tickets are shortly to go on sale.

I have no commercial association with Retro-Rides aside from being a long-standing member. For me it's THE weekend of the year.

There is a very broad selection of cars on retro-rides, it's a good forum.

That Mk1 Celica looks fantastic, I remember being round in one when they were new.

Quick update: All the scheduled 450 weekend camping passes are SOLD OUT. However another 100 have been made available, of which some 75 remain.

Advance day tickets for the Sunday (the main show day) are going on sale shortly.

Doesn't look like a Celica to me - it has 4 doors for one thing.

Shame I cant make it down, I would have dragged the granada out of it's sulk for that weekend.:(

If anyone's interested in displaying their car (a couple of Benz-owning RR members have already expressed an interest), I'm happy to sort a club stand out.

Just over a fortnight away now, there will be a 10-car Benz Mafia stand with these on it, amongst others....

The deadline for getting your own car into the showfield has now passed, but day tickets are available on the gate at £10pp (under-16's free).

Looks interesting, I might pop down for a gander myself.

Can you confirm that it's at the Prescott Hillclimb site as it's not listed on their events calendar. Any idea what time it opens?

Cheers, Mick

Yeah, it's the Prescott Hillclimb. No idea why it's not listed, as there are over 650 cars booked into the showfield!!!

It's open to the public from 9am. :thumb:

Im local, Ill probably go up myself :) Been a few times to Prescott events. Normally a good day out.

A great day out and some wonderful (and some weird) cars in attendance. :thumb:
It stayed dry with quite a lot of sun, but the car park (field) was more than a little muddy in places, so today's job is to de-cake the wheels, etc.

Impressive line up in the Benz Mafia section and at least one MB Club member in attendance........:thumb:

The black one's mine. :D

If you think the Public car park was bad, you should have seen the state of the campsite! I arrived in the middle of a positively Biblical downpour on Friday afternoon and literally slid the entire length of the field down to the swamp at the bottom. I didn't bother trying to extricate it, I just left it where it stopped and pitched my tent next to my mates, had an absolute whale of a time.....by Sunday morning the field had dried out enough for the car to make it back up without a tow or a push, I was quite impressed with it's offroad capabilities to be honest. Plenty of people had terrible trouble trying to get out.

Glad you enjoyed the Sunday, the date's already been set for next year (August 18th 2013) at the same venue. I just hope we don't have the same weather leading up to it!

I did think it might be your car when I spotted the badge in the windscreen and I was expecting to see it flying up the hill.

Links to a couple of very short videos I took, well they were out of sight damn quick!
BTW the soundtrack that is audible on the black MB isn't the Merc, it was the car waiting behind him and not a Merc I should add. (Think it was a mini).

I must make a note in my diary for next year, when I get one. It's a great venue and as you say hopefully the pre-meeting weather will be dry. Luckily I was directed towards the bottom of the field to park and therefor managed to exit without any problems.

Good to hear that you had a good weekend in spite of the mud and hopefully your tent didn't suffer the same fate as your motor.
