CAR C CLASS w202 sport(which is 25mm lowerd by merc)!!! so listen!!! MY cars tyre size now is!! 215/40/17 ::the 215mm is the width of the tyre::40mm is the height of tyre(just the tyre) 17 inch being the daimeter of the alloy wheel.........so i know that if i increase the height the ride will more comfortable but it will affect the handling! and if i increase the width from 215 to 225 it will have more road grip --- will increasing width affect milage???........OKIE SO here is what mercedes ppl told me!!!! for my 17 inch wheel :: the FRONT 2 tyre shoud be 225/45/17 and REAR shoud be 225/50/17..........thts what germans say OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE.......but i dont get this!! how will the german configuration affect my handling thaqt all i need to know but keep in mind the current tyre size gives me very good handling so compared to the germans which is better???????Help would be much appricieted

What size are the wheels, are they staggered?

The '40' is not 40mm but the profile of the tyre sidewall expressed as a percentage of the width. So therefore yours is 40% of 215mm which is 86mm.

By the way, this should be in the Wheels & Tyres bit of the forum and....

Welcome to the Forum!!
