Has anyone used Rimtech wheel refurbishers in Kent recently?

I have used Lepson's in Kent, and they were excellent. But I have no experience of Rimtech.

They are a tad cheaper you see....(£275 inc vat), but I'll pay the Lepsons price (£360 inc vat for 4 x 19" alloys with tyres on) if anyone has any reservations about Rimtech?

Thanks :-)

I haven't used them for a long time, in fact only at their old location but was happy then.

One thing I would say is that lepsons have improved their quality IMHO - I had a diamond cut wheel refurbed in Sep 2011 and it has lasted much better than their previous effort in 2007.

Remember Lepsons collect/deliver if needed.

I used Rimtec a couple of months ago for the 16" genuine Cup 1's on my 968 cab - and had previously seen the results of Lepsons doing wheels on a couple of other Porsches, including a 968 coupe. I was very happy with the service and results - not just the wheels themselves, but also little things like making sure the wheel nuts were correctly torqued - they were not 100% sure of the value so left the car on the ramp until I collected it so I could confirm the correct torque (which also allowed me a look under the car and at the inside of the rims!). I also noted that they used a sleeved socket to protect the rims and nuts!

I'd happily use them again.

Sorry, do you mean you would 'happily use Rimtech again'?

Thanks :)

ABOUT US | Rimtec Quality Wheel Refurbishment is who I'm talking about - as you're in London and have been to Lepsons (presumably Gillingham) I thought that was who you meant, as they're not that far from Gillingham. I've just Googled Rimtech and the first responses are Inverness!!

I think they are Meopham, Kent. I have not used them, but have heard good reports on them. I have used Lepsons and been happy with their work. They are pricey though.

Yes, they are in Meopham, in the old railway sidings area behind Meopham station. Interesting to find first time you go there, worth a good look at Google Maps before you set off - even with satnav!

I reckon they're as good as Lepsons but a lot cheaper. Look at their website, they describe the process they use for a full refurb and it reads almost identically to Lepsons. For my 968 it was wheels off, tyres off, strip, bead blast, paint, lacquer then refit tyres and balance. they had the car for the week, Monday afternoon to Friday early afternoon.

Another option would be Excel - he comes to you, fits a set of wheels so you're not off the road, then gets your wheels to Lepsons - reverses the process once they're done. Not sure he does MB wheels - I know of him from PCGB. Advantages are 1. you're not immobilised 2. you can actually try a different sized wheel.

ive used rimtec many times and always had really good results . the prices have gone up quite a bit of late. they are not the best at answering the phone and can be a bit slow if you are laid back with them. But i recently bought a set of style 2's that had been done by lepsons and the finish was rubbish compared to the 2 sets of style 2's that rimtec have done for me in the past. Also they are only a mile from my house which is nice

As I run my own business, I tend not to suffer fools gladly (in this context: poor business practices).

I emailed Rimtech in Kent last weekend, and have eagerly been waiting for a reply all this week to my query.

Well, they failed to respond to a short email querying £275 of new business.

For me, that is all I need to know about them. They are either:

a) too disorganised and can't get their act together to answer enquiries,
b) they don't care,
c) they don't want my business

Irrespective of whether any of the above are correct, the impression they give out to a potentially new first-time customer is that they have a shoddy business practice. Not answering a new enquiry is financial suicide.

o if they cannot answer the phone, or reply to an email, why would I trust them with four of my precious 19" AMG wheels?

I'm off to Lepsons. They are more expensive, but when it comes to your wheels, you have to have a quality job done, or you will be disappointed every single time you look at them :( It would 'erk' me constantly.

Cheers :)

Just got my refurbished AMG 19" wheels back from Lepsons in Gillingham Kent.

They did a fantastic job. The wheels look brand new!

Acid stripped, and oven baked paint and clear coat (so ready for immediate waxing).

Cost was £360 inc VAT and inc removing the tyres and re-fitting them afterwards with new valves and balancing.

Yes, they are a tad more expensive than Rimtech, but the result was worth every penny.

Anyway, Rimtech didn't want my business. They never replied to my email, and I hear that they often don't answer the phone.

I was not going to give a slap-dash firm MY wheels!

Cheers :)

Well said my friend, firms that cannot be bothered to answer simple e mails do not deserve the business,I have had the same experience with other firms and so delete them from my mind.I recently inquired about an SL500 for sale at a dealership by e mail and guess what not a dicky bird so they will not get any business from me ever.

I used them last year and they did a really good job at a reasonable price when they said they would and were courteous and attentive at all times. My experience was a good one and I would recommend them to anyone.
