Hi all and thanks in advance for any help given.
Yesterday on the last mile of my journey my 04 320 CDI decided t not want to accelerate thought it may have been due to lots of rain and the fact I had it in sports mode and was using the manual shift around the back lanes.
This morning I started up and noticed a bit of white smoke and put it down to the cold weather. Got round the corner and looked in my rear mirror and it was like the Red Arrows were behind me!! Turned round and parked up.
Upon taking the engine top cover off this evening I saw that the injector closest to the bulk head has a build up of black stuff around it. See attached photo.
I removed coolant lid and put my hand over it whilst my partner revved it up and could not feel any pressure building up against my hand. Doesn't appear to be any oil in the water. Can't see any water in the oil. Water level is ok too.
So my question is please would this what looks like leaky injector cause the white smoke and loss of power? If so will it simply be (fingers crossed) a case of cleaning it all up and tightening down or is it going to be more involved with the flaps in the manifold etc?
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
