Save on fuel - dubious

What you have to ask yourself is if a £9.99 magnet could cut fuel consumption by 10-25% why wouldn't every car manufacturer in the world fit them as standard?

I know Grav888 will disagree:D

We've had a few threads on this, there is no reason why it should work as fuel is a hydrocarbon and not magnetic...
Some say it will, some say it won't. until there is proper scientific testing I am in the won't camp.

Just wondered if there is any truth at all in his claims, why would fuel and magnets work together?!?!?!

It's the first line that gets me if it saves fuel something has to suffer like power etc....

"Increases power, improves performance, improves economy"

Not if it makes it combust more completely. This is supposedly how they work but I am sceptical.

Other than a placebo effect, a few magnets around the fuel line will do nothing to save you fuel.

There was another thread on this recently and things got really heated, so perhaps best to locate that and read through it, otherwise we'll be all up in arms again soon .

Ding Ding Round 2.

Moved.....if you are all going to discuss this AGAIN.......

I apologise, I did not realise there was already a thread dedicated to this!

Next thing you'll all be saying snake oil does not cure all ills..................

Occams Razor.

Ask yourself the question. Which is more likely ??

Car manufacturers are spending millions of £/$ trying to lower their g/kilometer CO2 readings and its claimed this device can achieve this.

Selling large numbers of these cheap devices to a gullible public will make the sellers a small fortune?

The ones on ebay are totally different in design to mine and do not even wrap right around the fuel line.
I have some of mine out on 'trial' at the moment, with members on here who claimed they could not possibly work.
Let's see what they say when they have had a chance to try them.

I still stand by what I said a few months ago, if people want to try them who have been on here for a while (for a free trial), let me know.

I realise that what I have said might cast some doubt on the integrity of forum members who advocate the use of these devices. I certainly would not wish to imply that, since I'm sure their belief is genuine and they only wish to help fellow members out for the best motives. I remain unconvinced myself but I will await the trial results mentioned with interest.

Graeme, I have known you on here for ages and you are more than welcome to have one on a free trial if you want.

A Convertee

Last year I went to France on Holiday. I set off from Freckleton with a full tank. 12 gallons in all. I drove to Paris (841kms) and still had fuel in the tank. Assuming that the tank was nigh on empty it works out at 44 miles to the gallon from an E220 Coupe. Trust me when I say my right foot had lead in it at times. Damn M25

Was that with or without a magnet?...Didnt realise a lead foot was magnetic:bannana:

hahahaha that was with a magnet of Grav's. Prior to fitting it the best I was able to manage was 38Mpg.

There is another member on this forum who has an interesting tale to tell of them. He drives to London now and then. Usually using a full tank there and back. Fitted one, went there and back, ran the car for a week then decided to fill up. And yes his car was in daily use before some smart@ss says it was parked on a drive :D
