SBC brake issue - C249F

I think due to dealer quoting recon unit / Indie quoting new unit

Does anyone still supply new units or are they all recon? I saw another post where MB offered a rebate based on the old unit being returned so are Indy's receiving new units or recon :dk:

Quite few used on Ebay, prices staring from £250 to £400. Just wondering if these units can be used as replacement?

They can BUT how much "life" is there left in them? You could end up paying £300 for something that expires in weeks!

Theres one on ebay does them 350 Euros exchange, based in Cyprus and all the taxi drivers there use him:thumb:

Software Update for SBC C249F Fault

I own a 2004 Mercedes E270 CDI. It had 130,000 miles on the clock and I had the dreaded C249F SBC fault.
The fault was diagnosed by an independent Mercedes Specialist Garage in Reading (Star Motor Services) and they were able to hire (for the afternoon) the appropriate equipment from an offical Mercedes Dealer to download more up to date firmware into the SBC unit. This reset the threshold for the number of Braking Cycles the SBC is able to handle before it is deemed to have reached its end of life. This cost me ~£160 as opposed to the £1200 for a replacement SBC (Star quote) or £1800 (official Mercedes Dealer quote). This firmware update is approved by Mercedes (Star Motor Services tell me).;)
