Last night I removed Norton 360 which was up for renewal and replaced it with AVG Internet Security (free trial).

All seems ok, except that the 2 fingers scrolling function on the scroll pad has stopped working.

I feel sure there is a way of turning this back on, but cannot find it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

on what? desktop? laptop? commodore64? crystal ball?

laptops have touch-pads, sometimes called scroll-pad on mac laptops (sysctl -w scrollpad.activate=2 etc) but then you wouldn't be running Norton etc.

I was being slightly facetious, your question was like saying "my windows aren't working", being asked on what, car, bus, house, and being answered of, a car... we'd still need the make and model.

So if you want your question answered we'd need to know make and model of laptop, operating system, etc.

Start>Control Panel>Mouse

That should bring up the driver panel. Nose around in there, you may find something.

Yeh, fair point. I wasn't sure how generic these things are.

Its an Acer Aspire laptop, running Windows Vista Boggo version (unfortunately).

The scroll/mouse thingy describes itself as Synaptics Touchpad V7.2.

Does this give you enough info?

Help always appreciated

In that case try reinstalling the driver (synaptics) and that should do it... people often get problems after changing the OS, other problems is when the connector comes out inside the laptop.

If necessary uninstall the hardware in control panel, reboot, let the pc detect new hardware and reinstall driver.

hth etc

Sorted....many thanks.

Now just got to upgrade to V2 Crystal Ball;)

MBs are great - they can fix your computer too!
