ok , next silly question from me , i have finally got a SD card (from Crucial) and having done several unsuccesful attempts to load the GB map (92 mb) onto it, i now find it is full up and i can't find out how to empty it ......

This is drving me nuts, more than once the pocket pc has been close to going out of the window

please help !!!

Howard, quickest way is is to do the following:

Start
Programs
File Explorer
Where it says My Device pull down the menu and select SD Card
Then select what you want to delete and that should be it

Name slips my mind for the moment, but there is a memory card format tool (freeware) available for PocketPC

huh? i am a real computer user non technical

go to 'my computer'

look at the drives (a: - floppy c: hard drive d: CD / dvd drive e: SD drive)

right click said dive icon

see "format...."

click it.

this is assuming, of course, that you have a SD reader in the PC...

Digital Camera doesnt take SD cards ......

Guy, no SD drive in the PC, need to format it on the pocket pc somehow !!!

nightmare please help !!

Mambo, your way is working well up to a point

I can get to 'storage card 2' then 'select all' but cant find delete !!!!

Helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllp...............!

what you need to do is once all the files are selected, press and hold the stylus on the selected files (its the same as a right mouse click on a PC) Once you do this a menu should pop up that should have delete as an option

Got it !!!

Big thumbs up to you all !!! :bannana:

sd card

HI all, having same trouble with mine, format it on PC and put it in camera and it shows full. Format it in camera and its ok to work, have loaded TOMTOM on it and it works great but then switch it off and try to use it again and it comes up with no maps installed so i have to reload the maps and its ok again, until i switch it off. Thought it was a problem with the card so tried another and the same thing happens i think there maybe something to do with FAT32 and RAW formatting but don't know too much about this, any ideas please. Ta

From memory, the cards should NOT be formatted on the PC as a drive letter, but from the PocketPC itself. Hence my post above about the tool to achieve it.

doh - I think I have jiggered my SD card

I took it out whilst the pda was switched on with TomTom 3 running (please dont ask why cause I just dont know :o :o :o )

Anyway - TomTom could not read a map any more and once I was home the SD card cannot be seen by either the pda or the pc - its as though it is not fitted

Ideally I would like to just get the pda to recognise the card and also see the various files on it but I guess I may need to format it but of course I need to 'see' it first! Any ideas please guys ?

BTW - I back up my pda every few days but I only found out because of this problem that the SD card is not backed up with my other files etc from the pda to the pc - TIP make sure you keep a copy of your card contents as well as your mormal back up !

Robert, got your pm

will mail you tomorrow , bit busy at the mo :)

Can you not reload TOMTOM through Active Sync?

I may have to try that Robert but I had other files on the SD card too,

The main problem is now where to put the tomtom map if my device cannot see the SD card - my query therefore is this, IS the card knackered or what can I do to revive it?
