Seatbelt- replacing just the fabric?

I have recently purchased a 2006 C220 CDi and have an issue with the front passenger seatbelt. I'm not sure how the previous owner has managed it but the material has torn/become frayed in the middle, meaning the buckle gets stuck and doesnt slide up and down as required when a passenger puts on the belt. I'm assuming this would be an MOT failure- which is due in June.

I have contacted a local garage who have provided the following quote for the part;

N/S/F seat belt complete £175.00 + vat and a modification kit £22.60 + vat

My question - is there any way of buying just the fabric element of the seatbelt? The mechanics of the belt are fine, it's just the frayed black fabric which is the issue.

Any assistance appreciated.

Hi,
You won,t be able to get the webbing to replace it, if a new belt reel is a bit rich for you have you tried to get a second hand item from a breakers? like Mercman or Dronsfields?

Try Claytons (1908) Ltd. Sheffield 01142 724573 They may be able to help.

There are several restoration companies that can replace/repair the webbing only, but you would usually have to send the full seatbelt assembly. If you are comfortable with taking the assembly out this would be a cheaper option.

One word. Dog.

There are plenty of companies out there who will replace just the belt part, but they will all want the old unit for some time to do the job... You may just have to bite the bullet and buy one new.

Ask MB dealers for their best price. Recently bought 2 rear belts for a W211 at £97.50 + vat each
