SEC Photoshoot pics

Nice one Jay but I bet you won't see a penny. But a penny for your thoughts. Since owning my 560SEC for quite a few years now I cannot stop a very slight exhaust fume getting into the car. The boot is adjusted OK with a new boot lid rubber. There appears to be no exhaust leaks I am at a loss. Thanks Graeme

WOW.. wicked picture.. love it

Well done Jay, the car is a credit to you mate it looks stunning...:)

Did you have a good look at the BMW, what did you think of it?

I love the picture of the engine, it would make an excellent picture to hang in the workshop.

Is it just me or does anyone else prefer reading about cars like this rather than how well the latest crop of supercars handle??!!

Looking forward to buying the mag.

Some lovely shots there Jay. The car looks fantastic, a credit to you.

Thanks all

SEM - thats the one im having printed off for the office.. will look lovely..

The engine shot was very clever... unfortunately I didnt have time to clean the engine bay as id been working on it when i did the steering box refurb and it was the guys idea to do the shot like that... it looks great i agree..

Graham - Yes i polished the car the day before but it got dirty on the way down... I stopped at a hand car wash and washed the car myself... they let me use their equipment after some arm twisting.

To be honest im happy as I would never have been able to take shots like this and nice to have as ill never be selling the car...

BMW - was absolutely fresh out of the box M sport... done 30K or so. There wasnt a mark on it... They were adament that the interior was factory but to me it looked retrimmed (very well) and still had the new leather smell.
But you know it did nothing for me.. it just seemed like any other old BMW and i dont like the looks at all... others would probably have wet dreams over it...
Same with the Jag... lovely but not for me in any way..

graeme - i can only think you MUST have a leak at the manifold? I changed my boot seal a while back so maybe its due to the new seal not bedded in yet?

Does anyone know any reliable companies that will print these into posters?

What do people recommend is the best material..

Some websites offer a canvas print and im thinking the one posted above by SEM will be nice on canvas?

Size is 2834x4856 of the original pic... how big can i go without losing too much quality?

Thanks all

The size is good but depends on the resolution too. It was shot intended for a magazine shoot rather than large format signage. I can get you some details and contacts from work on monday. We deal with large format prints as does my good lady. Obviously it won't be as sharp as you're seeing here, but you're unlikely to stand right up to the pic anyway (same as any bus stop/window display etc etc). You'll love the picture when it arrives..will probably pressure you to keep it as clean when you park next to it!

thanks gucci

hmm not sure how to check resolution but file size is about 2.5mb so cant be that bad...

2.5mb as a JPEG uncompressed is alright (ish)...if that's a TIFF I'd be more worried. A 10mb file would be a better start. Not sure you'd be that pleased with the end result?

its a jpeg... maybe just get an A4 size print/canvas then!?

A JPEG file when closed is compressed. When you open in Photoshop it's actually a larger file size. (If it's 2.5mb open in photoshop, that's teeny)

A3 may be ok, A2 probably too soft. The photographer must have higher res anyway?

yes but im having to get these through the writer... who apparently doesnt have cd burning facilities on his computer...

Im sure he has more photos too but this is all he sent..

Well since you've been good enough to provide your car to make the article as good as it will look, the magazine should be happy enough to burn a CD for you. You'll be pleased you asked when you have that big canvas hanging on the wall! They won't store forever!

Had another look at your gallery pics....soooo much cooler than the current stuff isn't it? I saw a group of guys in a brand new Hummer, arms out the window "working it"...they didn't realise just how uncool they looked. Then, a old Rolls Royce Corniche probably worth about £10k rolled by with 20 somethings in it, looking super cool - they get it!

I'd love to own an SEC or SL like yours, but do you need to be pretty handy with the spanners?

Well the SL has required no work whatsoever apart from normal servicing.. this is because SL's tend to get looked after a bit more as owners know the value. Saying that it took me 2 years to find one that fitted the bill...

The SEC has required more work.. there are more shoddy ones out there than good.. but in my case it was always intended to be a project... you could buy a completely original, mint example for 8-10K and have to do nothing to it... but for me it was about making it my own so i looked for one that was mechanically sound and had the options i wanted.. .

Generally you dont need to have a workshop to own one of these, most just require routine maintenance and can be driven every day..
It depends how perfect you want your car to be..

Stunning car, something I'd like in a few years.

Re the wheels, I would leave them alone and not go body colour. That will be way too much blue and kill the look. That's only my humble opinion though :)
