Service A overdue by 5000 miles

Does that A service include additional items or is it just oil, filter and quick inspection.
You could get an oil/filter change and MoT at a fast fit outfit for not much more than a ton.

Had to take my car to Mertrux, authorised MB workshop, for a specialist repair. The workshop rate was £168 per hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not for the job.
All it includes is change oil and oil filter.

The rest of the items on the list say

Check

So basically a pre mot check

I got a full service yesterday inc MOT for £338. Oil + filter, air filter, fuel filter

Click on the + sign next to additional service items slim...

112k miles 'aint high mileage.
I don't see the stretched chain as a reasonable expectation either.

2nd opinion from an Indie methinks, and then if it is chain rattle consider a tensioner replacement as 1st step.

Just goes to show how much profit is in an oil change and how much of a bunch of bandits they are.

My local Mercedes in Carlisle is a brand new build and looks swanky as anything. Hence the service cost is going towards the running costs of their building.

It’s only if the car is 7+ years old for the value service

What were the additional items ?
Transmission service ?

On the orginal one i got quote the additional items were air filter, fuel filter and brake fluid change.

On the 1k plus one was

Oil + filter
Air filter
Fuel filter
Trans oil
Brake fluid
Pan roof

Silly me

Still not cheap though

Prices that are accelerating Mercedes dealerships demise through the laws of diminishing returns.

A good comparison with dealer service will be a service done at an independent specialist, though the latter won't include Mobilo roadside assistant or the anti-perforation warranty.

As for KwikFir, all they'll do is an engine oil and filter change, and only a few quick safety checks, and they'll probably use a cheap filter and possibly not even MB Approved engine oil. Nothing wrong with that, however it's apples and pears.

I think that the dealer's PAYG prices are deliberately aimed at pushing customers to the MB Service Care Plan. All in all, I had 5 services done under the plan, and it would have been unaffordable otherwise.

MB prices are geared to the ignorant. We who query are a tiny segment of the market and therefore irrelevant.

sometimes better to call the dealer and query it - got a service plan on the AMG so all ok.

When i took the M4 in last time for its big service to local BMW dealer - they quoted £1100 on their central switchboard, queried it when there and paid £900 (got the excuse the guy on the phone was new and quoted wrong model). Just seemed to expensive for what it was.

I have a service plan with MB, £30 a month which seems good to me helps with budgeting.

Wow.....with scary prices like these being bandied about I'm glad I do all my own work.....tyres and paint aside!
