I've just completed a B service on my E320 CDi (W210). Not much to it really, certainly not £465 worth. New MB oil filter (with o-rings), Shell Helix Plus deisel oil, MB air filter, MB wiper blades, and MB pollen/cabin filter. The fuel filter was changed at the last A service at the request of the previous owner but I may change it anyway as it's cheap enough. All brake parts look good although the front discs will need replacing when the pads are next renewed. Everything checked and lubricated as per the service book. The oil looked pretty good for 18k miles. A couple of points to note :
1. On the facelift models, the pollen filter is not behind the glove box. It is under the glove box and is far easier to access. Simply remove the two screws securing the fabric panel above the passengers feet, pull the panel out, slide back the filter retaining clips (big white things) and pull the filter out.
2. Resetting the service indicator is not achieved by the usuall method of turning the ket to position 2, pressing the reset button twice in rapid succession, turning off the key, turing it on and holding the reset button (or something like that). Just use the steering wheel buttons to get to the service due counter, push the reset button (at which point the LCD asks if you want to reset the counter), release the reset button, and the push and hold the reset button for 5 seconds or thereabouts.
I plan to change the coolant, gearbox fluid, brake fluid, and diff fluid over the next few weeks.
However, the service book talks about a cabin filter and an "air conditioning" filter. Is there an extra filter to the mail pollen/cabin filter?
Cheers.
