As above guys.wifeys slk 250 amg is due it's first service.12 months but only done 5k.lease agreement says I can only use authorised mb dealers.does this mean I can't use an Independant?:confused:

From what I was told, Mercedes dealership only. Definitely worth asking for a discount, don't settle on the first quote.

I recently handed back a leased c220, never once had it serviced at MB, just a regular garage using genuine MB parts kept all the receipts. No query from the lease company.

Mentioned in the contract document, introductory letter, and booklet, it states that you must have your car serviced at a Mercedes-Benz Official Workshop.

I was also given a matrix of servicing charges, if the car isn't serviced at the required intervals within the official workshop network.

For your SLK, this will be £1,080 based on a 3 year agreement.

As of 2003, so long as you have your car serviced using genuine parts as described by the service schedule, there should be no problem and your warranty will remain in tact.

There is an artical on the Office Of Fair trading website regarding this but it doesn't appear to be working so i've posted this one;

Car service and repair faqs | The AA

A lease agreement may supercede this though.

This is true for the manufacturers' warranty (some car companies add year 3 or 4 or 5 at the cost of the distributor - different rules), but seeing as the lease car belongs to someone else they can stipulate their own conditions. As stated for Mercedes leases there is a chart in the handbook explaining the cost of not using the MB dealer.

If the car is due a service either on time or mileage basis and your lease agreement specifically states the work to be carried out by an M-B dealer, I think it would be prudent to comply.

Thanks chaps,it does state mb official service workshops in the blurb. Looks like Theron dealer.i will try to play one off against the other as there are few around here.thanks again for your replies.

You can supply your own oil which saves quite a bit of money.

Also just to add, I handed my lease back last month and the car was overdue a service by 1 month. Had a letter back saying thanks for looking after it!
