hi guys,

so you have seen my 300ce in the 'update on my 300ce thread'

right my mate has a BMW 325i coupe ( E36) and he has just bought a set of 18" schnitzer alloys and a combat bodykit (it does look mean)

now i know that my ce already gets thousands of looks everyday already; which is the reason that he has decided to get a kit for his as he is extremely jealous, but i need to stay ontop of him if you know what i mean??!

we roll around town together all the time so i have to beat him in the looks and head turning abillity, this im winning hands down at the moment but i have my doubts as to him gettin the bodykit weather i will anymore if we are rolling together.

i know my baby is a classic and she will always have her fans and his BMW is simply another BMW E36 regardless of how it looks but i have to hurt him as i cant beat him on the tarmac!!! i cant loose twice!! some will understand where im coming from on this i hope??

these are the wheels he has bought, but he has got 18" instead of the 19's in the link.....

Breeding always shows.

Why drag yourself down to his level? You're driving a classic car, with timeless design, and people look at it for those reasons. A flip paint job, dustbin exhaust, black windows and 24" wheels will cause them to look and point, but for all the wrong reasons.

If you want to 'compete', then buy a Subaru or a BMW. If you want to rise above, then spend the £700 bringing your CE up to excellent condition, and let your mate disappear up his own exhaust.

PJ

PS You'll also find your car easier to sell if you don't mess it up.

I agree .....

Bodykits and baked bean tins rivetted onto the exhaust are the domain of the Barry ....

Get the car up to A1 condition, but keep it classic, if you want to play with the bodywork, then facelift it bonnet , lights , rear panel etc ....£700 should cover sourcing the parts and getting them painted ....

I think the fact that your mates bodykit is called 'Combat' says it all really  people who buy bodykits love the 'hard' sounding names ....

'Yeah , got me a Combat bodykit, with a Double Hard Bastard exhaust , Ninja Fighter steering wheel with a Shit On Your Tulips paint job .....'

Not having a pop at your mate, but as PJ said, the car is a classic, why ruin it ....

Sorry ...... :o

thanks guys, thats exatctly the advice i was looking for.

any ideas where i can get the bonnet upgrade?

will i also have to change my front bumper to do this? i hope not but if i have to i will.

actually, where can i get all the parts that HOWARD has mentioned?

HOWARD: i laughed my head off reading your post about why guys buy kits with hard names, hilarious mate:rock:

cheers guys
Ben

All these bits are available on Ebay from time to time.
The boot requires a palstic filler panel, not a new bootlid. The bonnet is a straight swap, no need to change the slam panel. The headlight lenses are different, but I think you might be able to get away with your existing ones. Somebody else will need to confirm that. The plastic panels beneath the headlights will need changing, but I don't know about the bumper.

Unfortunately, getting a colour match will be your biggest problem, and what you have left out of your £700 won't cover a good quality spray-up.

PJ

iv already had the bonnet and bumper resprayed so theres no problem with the colour maatching.

i really want the bonnet upgrade so any more info will be greatly apriciated

thanks
Ben

What I meant was, if you replace the bonnet, then you'll need to spray the new one to match the rest of the car.

I've never done this, but this thread covers it briefly.
