has anyone here ever shipped a set of 4 wheels with tyres from germany? if so how much is it likely to cost? ive seen some wheels on ebay.de that i cant seem to find here, just wondered if its worth even concidering.

Parcelforce have a service from Germany using their partners, GLS, I think they will be as competitive as you can get....

I am in shipping/logistics and could help.

Our head office are based in Germany so no problems for us....

ask the seller first mate.some of them dont even bother to ship to england, some of them ask for a bank transfer cos they dont have a paypal.

also check how wide the whells are,cos you might have a prob on the front arches

Delivery costs can vary a lot, I ordered a set of aluminium wheels (no tyres) earlier this year from Germany and it was 36 Euros delivered to my house. To compare, I ordered a cigarette box sized part from UK and it was 24 Euros. Both parts had to swim a bit.

I maybe wrong, but postal charges from Germany seem to be lots cheaper. I bought a vintage Philips VCR from Germany, a large and VERY heavy item, I thought the chap had dropped a clanger when he quoted me postage, but sure enough, here within the week and at what he said.

I've also found a set of wheels that I'm keen on (not for my Merc), although the buyer has stated ship within Germany only. I've sent an email to ask about delivery to the UK but have not had any response.

They're listed as buy it now. Does anyone know of any services where you can purchase an ebay item and have it shipped to a German address and then have delivery forwarded (I know there are a few services like this for buying goods from the US). Alternatively anyone know anyone in Germany that could buy / receive them on my behalf & arrange shipment???

The wheels are in Dortmund and as stated the seller will ship to anywhere in Germany.

It is worth it, i got my genuine brabus ones from germany, saved £££!!

But i had a friend who was there who drove them back for me (for free!), so in a sense i was v.lucky.

Update, seller has replied to say he can ship to the UK but that it would cost EUR 120. I think the shipping could be cheaper than that. I will try Shiply for an indicative cost, otherwise time it for when I know we're going to be in Germany.

Shipping from germany is relatively cheap ive found.

Around 80 EUR is normal rate for 4 wheels.

Thanks that's what I thought, we're talking about just the wheel rims not with tyres. Other sellers had quoted 60 - 80 EUR for shipping a set of wheels fom Germany. I know the difference between that and 120 EUR is not necessarily a lot of money but 120 EUR seemed a bit steep...

Will keep an eye on it, there are still 4 days to go on that auction.

That's fairly standard but easy enough to do (BIC/IBAN).

Yes, that's what I've done in the past, luckily this guy takes PayPal. I've noticed a lot of German sellers are starting to accept PayPal, I guess eBay have been forcing PayPal upon the German members too.

Bought a set of four wheels and tyres from ebay Germany. Shipping was 120 Euros.

This for 19" wheels complete with tyres. Each tyre / wheel combination weighs about 35kg.
