Should I supercharge the CLK 350?

My son started this particular ball rolling when he said that I could supercharge The Beast. CLK 350 is fairly quick anyway but I headed off into Google as you do. A Danish company called Kleemann makes the supercharger and there are a few UK people who can do the job. It looks like it will cost around £7 - 8K and will give me somewhere in the vicinity of 400bhp at some point in the rev range. The car has the AMG sports pack and will probably not run into the nearest tree. Apart from the insurance hike and the risk to my licence, what else do I need to consider? Stronger pistons, better brakes, new tyres every 5,000 miles? Sectioning myself under the Mental Health Act?

I would have thought the best option would be to replace the car with a CLK55 just shy of 400bhp.

+1 for the suggestions above.

Although it would be a nice mod, come resale time a CLK55 is going to be a better long term prospect. Spending 7k on your car isn't going to add anything like that value. In fact it could even be seen as a negative mark and could have the opposite effect on it's value, saleability and insurability.

I've toyed with the idea of having my C320 supercharged, for the outlay it's just not worth it with prices of C32's and C55's being so close.

Thanks all. I'll keep the CLK350 for a while longer and then go for the CLK 55 or even, maybe an AMG-flavoured 63. I'm not very keen on the styling of the new E-class cabriolet. Starting to look all wierd like BMW.
