I'm looking for any recommendations for a single seater driving experience at any circuits within a reasonable distance from Selby, North Yorks.

Any suggestions welcome, but those based on personal recommendation especially so.

I can't provide any recommendations in your area because I did mine at Thruxton in Hampshire. All I can say is that you'll love it. :thumb:

My brother did one at Silverstone, and he said it made him want more.

I've done the Silverstone one. Single seater too. They have no rev limit on the cars so it makes it extra fun.

I can recommend 2 having been an Instructor at both circuits. depends what you call single seater if you consider that to be an Aeriel Atom you have a venue on your doorstep at Elvington York, the old airfield is made into a circuit with massives run offs so you cant come to any harm. Gives you 0-60mph in 2.3 seconds and a top speed of 170mph which feels b**dy fast in that car and they are unrestricted so you can use the full performance of the car.

My other choice would be Donnington Park in a single seater gives you o-60mph in 4 secs and 150mph top speed, Donnington is a great circuit and very challenging particularly redgates and craner curves. You can also do the Aerial Atom at Donnington so you might want to combine the two?

Just my thoughts but I hope you enjoy :thumb:

Thanks everyone. It's actually a 21st birthday gift for the twin sons of friends of ours, so I was looking for something near where they live. I live not far from Silverstone so that was also an option, and I've ridden a bike around Donnington so I know how entertaining that can be :thumb:

Looked at Elvington, but thought it might be over a bit too quickly so settled on a Formula Forward session for them both at Croft, which includes a few laps in a Cayman, then the FF car and then a final hot lap with an instructor in a Caterham 7 - 12 laps in total.

They'd better enjoy it...

Thanks again!

Palmersport, all day long. :)
I've done two Palmer Motorsport Experience days over the years and can't do anything but agree. A little pricy when you're paying for two yourself though!

Agree palmer sports was awesome!

Phill did you find the acceleration a little tame compared to bikes or was it just me?

I did a single seater day at brands hatch and it had a height limit of 6 foot 3 strangely but what it should have had was a feet size limit ! They gave you special shoes that only went up to a size 11 which i couldnt fit my size 12 plates into. So out on the track I was unable to depress the clutch properly due to the limited space and ended up getting hauled off as I couldnt go fast enough i was a danger to the other drivers !! so all in all a total waste of money !

I take it you mean in the single-seater? If so then yes, the acceleration was a bit ponderous compared to a big bike, but the braking and ability to carry corner speed was very impressive.

FWIW, I still have a trophy for fastest time of the day in an Elise from one of the sessions :D
