SL600, Just about to buy

Hi Guys

Good friend of mine has just purchased or is about to a 2003 SL600 and I have a couple of questions I would like to as the club. Who would you recomend to service the car besides main dealer, we are based in north London. I Know they are expensive to run and that the air suspension can be a nightmare, any other areas we need to be concerned about. Cant seem to find much about them in the uk any links you can throw my way please.

If you are in North London, then I would recommend Terry at Wayne Gates in Harrow - picked up my 129 SL from him on Saturday, and the service was faultless.

There are many things to check on the SL600. Suspension is one. Not just ABC but they like to wear their joints out.

Oil leaks from the engine and ABC is also quite common too. They are not the kind of leaks that can be just left as they often progress very quickly.

The operating pressure of the ABC pump is important too and can be tested with the star.

They often have issues with missfires too. A test on the Star can pick up minor missfires. They are normally caused by coil packs at £1k each.
