Hi looking at getting new wheels for my slk 230 1998 now the wheels that are on are 18inch and are very rough around the rim was at ats yesterday and they said get some better condition wheels so I was reading when the slk was first introduced it had 16inch wheels is this correct and would it be any better with the 16inch wheels thanks.

16 inch wheels will give a more comfortable ride and 16 inch tyres will probably be cheaper.

Do you have the handbook? It will list the range of wheel and tyre sizes available from new.

Make sure that any you buy have the correct offset.

Have just changed from 17 to 16 inch. 205 front and 225 rear. about 30% cheaper and better ride. The turn in is not quite so sharp, this is a road car not a track day machine.

I got hold of 4 staggard OEM wheels off ebay for £80. They were diamond cut with usual problems and no tyres or kirb marks. Powder coating cost around £45 per wheel.

Hi been away to holland for the past 11 days my new wheels arrived and a friend fitted them looks good drive is much better as you say not as sharp in the corners but a lot smoother. Paid £54 per wheel and £57 per tyre im happy with that.:bannana:
