SLK R171 winter tyres on R172?

Partner currently has an R171 SLK with 16" wheels, for which she has a set of winter tyres (225/45 at front, 245/40 at rear - same sizes as the standard summer tyres).

Now planning on replacing with an R172.

Will the winter tyres from the R171 fit on the R172 - possibly on a set of "winter alloys"? Or should we sell the partworn winter tyres and plan on getting some new winters for the new car?

Sorry, fairly significant typo - the R171 has 225/45R17 and 245/40R17, not 16"!

Sounds like they should fit on an R172 fine (assuming it has/gets 17" rims).
