Slow Ticking sensation in Brake Pedal

Hi Guys,
I am concerned about the second hand car I have purchased. Basically, at slow speeds, when I press the break pedal, I feel a tick vibration every 2 seconds. I have driven other cars with ABS and there is no such ticking. It has just been serviced by Mercedes and they said all is fine.

Brakes are serious. Can someone help? My gut tells me it is an issue. Please if someone can advise.

Many thanks,
Mus

If you could provide some car details I am sure someone will be along shortly to answer your question.

My car is an SLK 350 2005.
Basically, if you rest the foot on the brake, even when stationary, there is a clicking vibration on the brake pedal every two seconds. I am not sure what causes the clicking sensation? Maybe the rotors? Can someone diagnose?

Sorry guys, I was trying to answer all the questions. I am still new to this forum and learning how to use it.

Hi Mus - I'm not familiar with your model of car but from what you describe it doesn't sound like something I'd expect.

Top tip: On the left hand side where your username appears in your posts, you can add additional information to your profile - eg car details, general location etc. This will make it easier for people to help and saves you having to type out your car details each time you post

Just click on 'User CP' at the top of the screen, and then 'Edit Profile'

Hope this helps :)

This is caused by the heater Duo valve being mounted near the master cylinder. As it pulses to allow hot water through you feel it through the pedal.

how random.. how did you know that?!

ive had a few SLK's through and not noticed..

My CLK does it too , only the other day i was sitting in traffic and thought ' What's that ? '

Some vague part of my memory remembered that this question had been answered before , so i wasn't overly worried.

So what is the answer? I mean can someone help me by suggesting a solution for the ticking sensation in the brake pedal. If the answer is there, then point me to that thread.

Thanks.

Have you read the replies?

see post 8 and 10!

Yes I have read the response but if you follow the rest of the conversation, it seems that those are not the solutions. So I am still hoping for a concrete answer.

Many thanks,

Mus

It's a feature of the heating system.

Putting concrete in it won't help ;)

There's no solution , because nothing is wrong.

Got it. So the above is true. And it isnt a problem. It is just the pumping of hot water through.

At least that is a relief.

Cheers thanks guys.!!

My W202 brake pedal pulses when the ABS is working.

This would also depend if it does it all the time or just sometimes. The ABS does not cut in until the speed of one wheel alters from the rest, for example if you were hard braking.

Could this not be it? Or is this no longer the case in the newer cars with newer braking systems?

If your ABS pulses once every 2 seconds like the OP's brake pedal, it must be faulty.

No, like i said it depends if it does it all the time or just sometimes. I know if it did it once every 2 seconds all the time then something is wrong hence the example of when its suppose to cut in.

I wrote, "when the ABS is working", so whenever it cuts in...
