SLS AMG -- plenty available

I predict price drops soon.

Some people need to sell the cars asap and there is an oversupply of them = price drop.

I reckon 16% or thereabouts...

Mercedes are starting to dilute some of their line-up... they make a car like the SLS and give it a powerplant that it shares with 'the lesser cars' like a SLK (soon) or a C-Class (or an E, S, CL, SL, ML, GL, CLK, and maybe more). This doesn't mean i'm saying there's anything wrong with the 6.2 AMG Engine, far from it, but its becoming all a bit too common.

If we look at BMW how many of their cars share the same engine as the M5 or M3? Ok the M5 shares its engine with the M6 but thats it.

The SLR was great with the mclaren touch for marketing hype and people bought it (although still not in the numbers they expected)... but the SLS (for me anyway) is just missing that certain 'something' to make it the price that Mercedes are demanding for it at this moment in time. Maybe if it had the 65 AMG Engine with a 700bhp variant it would attract more customers? Who knows, but thats my 2p.

To be fair, the V8 in the SLS is quite different to other 6.3s .. it's dry sumped for a start, and it has all the fancy materials, plus clever air intakes etc.

On top of all that, it's the only front mid engined car in the MB line up.

i think amg should make a supercar with the v12 that they put in the pagani zonda.
i know they made the sl65 black but that never really took off .

is that another 16% off the used prices? that would put them about £130k.

That's because BMW wouldn't try and sell a £100k+ supercar, it is a market they have never really been a part of.
Mostly because they don't need to; they know their market and target them aggressively and the M3 is the absolute pinnacle of this marketing tactic. ;)

Around central London on Sunday, saw three!

Have to say I really like them now, in the flesh they look stunning

agree. SLS much better in the metal. Photos don't do it justice.

love the long long bonnet

I visited three dealers in three days, 1 very small, 1 fairly large, and 1 very large. Until then I'd not sat in an SLS, by the time I visited the third dealer I didn't even walk over to it!!

Four brand new SLS in three showrooms, not including any not on show. Not a good sign.

think there are 2 in Sheffield today in black.

The SL 6.3 in mystic blue looked far better!

did'nt think they done mystic blue on the sls, they do a daytona blue which is quite dark.
was the mystic blue at the mb dealership? if so they might have done a special order because it seems the md is a fan of the mystic blue they had a e63 amg in the same colour. would be nice to see the sls in mystic blue.any pics?

s88 said it was the SL in Designo Mystic Blue.

If you'll dig deep, then I'm sure AMG will paint one just for you. ;)

I've seen quite a few in London all in different colours, Silver not good. The only colour that really works is Black. A great looking car.

I think it's a tired and lazy design, seen 3 in the flesh and it didn't excite me, i'd rather have the Black Series SL.
