Not exactly detailing I know, but...

I have been pondering over going into the snow foam game. I have a Karcher pressure washer but need everything else.

I have been perusing Ebay for a while and there are many many options out there. Too many - I'm a bit confused!

I was interested in a lance and foam package by Auto RAE-Chem. Anyone had dealings with them before? Some foam adverts state that the lance bottle needs filling with foam; others state that you put some foam in and fill with water. Now I presume that whatever dilution is in the bottle will become even more dilute when the washer is running and drawing the foam through.

So :-

a.) It the whole thing worth it?
b.) Is Auto RAE-Chem good stuff?
c.) Would you use citrus or cherry?
d.) Any other stuff I should know?

Many thanks!

I have just bought a bosch pressure washer and got the autobrite hd foam lance and super snow foam.

The foam lance bottle is about 1 litre. I filled this with about an inch of super foam concentrate then topped off with water.

To foam the car I used about half the bottle. I am not sure how much water/foam ratio there is but I had the dial turned to the minimum.

This setup gives a good foam and I let it sit there for a few minutes then pressure washed off. I'm not sure it made any difference though. I still had to clean it with a sponge and soap and the stubborn marks did not seem to be losened by the foam.

Also the foam sprays every where so make sure there are no other cars nearby.

Snow foam is not for washing the car, it is for removing all the loose dirt before washing.

Power wash car with snow foam (great fun) leave to work for 5 minutes then hose off. Then wash car using 2 bucket method and a wash mitt. Dry car and then polish or polish when wet depending on polish used. Finally apply wax to protect your gleaming paintwork.

Alternatively, power wash with snow foam, leave 5 minutes and power wash foam off. If car is not really clean just do the same next weekend, as snow foaming is the only part of washing the car that's fun to do.

^ wot he said! That's about word for word the way I do it.

Have a look HERE

or

THERE

I've used both suppliers with no probs. hth

Thanks, guys.

I spent quite a while going through the DW site - thanks for the link - and it was very helpful. It seems as if RAE-Chem supply quite a few suppliers, including both of yours Andy!

Well, I've gone and hit the 'go' button so hopefully next weekend will see me covered from head to foot with foam. And, with a bit of luck, the car might get some on it too.

I decided on the slightly milder version, as the citrus one will strip the wax away with the dirt.

I'll post a piccie when I'm there!
