So, I bought a R107 :)

deck it on air ride and get some vip style wheels :D

And why would you want to do that ??

Maybe just getting your post count up !!!!!!

19 posts in twenty five minutes. :dk:

Aiming for the magic 30 I think!

Yep, first 31 are without substance ( Im being polite here)

Then post 32, a classified ad for wheels at £2500.

Done this now. took me a while. Not sure how good it looks though

Please show some pictures, and tell me how you did it, Im wanting to lower my ride, and add some fat rims.
Ive been offered some big Carlsson wheels at a silly price.

love that........
I looked at six of these couldn,t find a good one travelled all over the country , one 280sl was full of water in the footwells and when i lifted the carpets behind the seats the water drained off them ,the oil was just below the lowest mark on the dipstick ,although i was told it had just been serviced,/ panel gap on passenger wing was closed ,

I did the spraying myself.

I think Derek (Druk) recommended a good bodyshop in Bathgate recently who did his 211 bumper if you're looking for a good place to get work done...

Well, I'm thinking about buying a compressor from ebay and doing it myself as I have a few different repairs to do over the winter. Where did you get your paint mixed, and were you happy with your results?

Cheers
Jim

i didnt use a compressor.... but my paint is non-metallic.

i got my paint from here:

Car Paint from AutoPaint St Helens (Powered by CubeCart)

it was a great match for the original MB paint and a lot cheaper. there was a mix up between 2 batches i ordered, but they corrected it. (apparently 3 different shades of my colour). the 2nd batch was a bit lighter that the 1st, so i asked for a darker shade, and they send a test FOC and it was perfect again.

Compressor

After reading this I am thinking twice about going down the compressor route.

Reducing Water in a DIY Compressed Air Supply

Go for it. I have been using a compressor for the last 5 years. I have
resprayed several cars. It takes a bit of getting used to, but as with all
painting it is the preparation and finishing (rubbing down) that takes the
time. I have just got some paint for my R107. Looking forward to my
first go at metallic.

Go to Autopaints in Thornton, Fife, take the car with you and they'll mix up the paint there and then. Always had perfect results from them. Great guys but usually VERY busy.

I just want to say that I think you did a great job on this car.
it's certainly a classic that makes my heartbeat raise...
and I have mass respect for anyone who dares to take a challenge like this and end up with this result... sure like the bootlid without the spoiler, can't wait for everything that's yet to come :p

I wish you many convertible road miles in the sun... ;)

.Great looking R107. Mine has full body kit , so offends a lot of people , but no boot spoiler . Personally i dont like the boot spoiler in black as it looks like it was put on after a visit to Halfords , via the pub. Each to their own i suppose . I note you didnt use a compressor , did you use aerosols ? , finish looks good in the photos .Tell Druk to put some photos of his SL up. From the interior shots i have seen his looks gorgeous.
Martin :)

Silver Saloon
Having finished the back of my car I am planning on doing the same to the front of mine as you have done. Not much option really the front valance has given up the ghost. Is the later model front spoiler/valance fibreglass or pressed steel?
Just wondering for ease of handling and fitting. Cheers
