So I have had my car 2 years

I promise to keep my Mercedes looking like a Mercedes

I promise to keep my Mercedes........:p

That means I really ought to buy some orange paint and add some ferrite effect on the arches, door bottoms, sills, and bonnet

You should get the touch up stick from halfords.. you will have those chips covered up in 10 minutes.

Last time I attempted doing such a thing I made a mess....

Good job it was my Mums old car :bannana::bannana:

thats the beauty of the halfords kit.. the application end is a small needle and so its very difficult to over paint... you just squeeze until the chip is covered then move on... I dont bother with the lacquer etc.

Goodness - Steve will be off on a detailing trip soon ....................

Unfortunately winter has taken its toll and there are a lot of stonechips on the bonnet (about 20) and on the wings, doors etc. Before this winter it was not nearly so bad but with the roads breaking up and loose stones about its really done a lot of damage to what was a spotless car. All those dots in the pic above are chips!!!!

I've got exactly the same problem!!! Before the winter, my car had hardly any paint blemishes at all, it looked really nice (as black does when it's clean!!) but now, after all the grit thrown up all over it, there's little chips all over the bonnet, wings and windscreen! :( Quite honestly the car looks awful now, whether it's clean or dirty! I'm livid to be honest!!!

Anyway, yours looks great to me!! :)

As a fellow black E-class owner, all I can suggest is don't get too close to the car in front (especially if it's a Toyota with no brakes :D)

Mine had a couple of chips before this winter, its high infuriating to see the deterioration so quickly

The following night after I picked up my E350 the council gritted (heavily) the roads around here! I must have left a gap of about 10 cars while driving to try and avoid getting sprayed with grit from the cars in front.

I will be positively distraught if it gets chipped.

If its really badly chipped we can do a no quibble swap :thumb:

You truly are the most generous person I have come across :D:D:D

Really glad I didn't have the car through the heavy snow over the last few months. Not only would it be chipped to death by now but I'd have probably ended up taking the lower bumper off on the mounds of snow my old car sailed over.

Mine's more bare metal than blue at the front now, I suppose I should be grateful that the stonechips are completely refusing to corrode but actually it's kinda insulting... Like stone chips just sit there being all grey while my unmolested arches turn into Irn Bru every time it rains...

Your car's looking nice, take a top tip; now you've waxed it (2 coats Biff!) invest in some Snow Foam and give it a spray every week or so - did mine in 20 mins before heading off to the Ace Cafe and it's so painless once you've got wax on there. Spray on, leave 10 mins (cuppa), spray off, done.

The worst part about it for me was I'd been really careful right through ther worst period, leaving big gaps etc, then, a few days after the worst of the snow, a gritting truck came around a corner, at speed and sprayed my car with grit as he went by!! If I'd been able to catch him I'd have probably ended up in jail for assault!!

It's worse when you have to pass one on the motorway - not done it for a while, but the last time I did I was proper peppered!

before heading off to the Ace Cafe
Wow, one of my fav places, especially on Corvette evening! :D

Had many a MASSIVE breakfast in there over the years! :)

That happened to me as well. But its the roads here have completely broken up and you here the clattering of loose chips hitting the undercarriage. Normally a 4pot on a cold morning makes its self heard, but it was drowned out by the underside getting bombarded.

Time for an ML if I change. :thumb:

Funnily enough, I'm collecting an ML500 tomorrow for a few days of fun!! I'll post some thoughts and photos on it! In theory I'm meant to be assessing it as a possible change from my S211 - but I might just enjoy it! :D

How was the second date?
