SO I was meant to be going on Holiday....

Steve

Maybe consider a slightly shorter routeplan and leave Midweek if it's not ready.

You'll still have a great trip.

Don't get downbeat.

There is that option, and another one for a plan B:thumb::thumb:

The trip will be awesome. Although as discussed on Tuesday I may be pranked and look somewhat different on return. I cannot wait to get over there and see the sights, drive on the roads, eat even more than I normally do. Its set to be the best holiday of my life:thumb:

I hope you get the car fixed in time Steve, you're unlucky it happened at all but lucky it happened where it did.

Best of luck.

Bad luck Steve. I hope you get it sorted.

When it was said "You were to young to be insured on one of the used cars" does that mean "too young" or "too expensive"?

Age discrimination perhaps?

You bought from a MB dealer so they should do anything they can to help IMHO.

Best of luck with it. :thumb:

P.S. Take it easy until you get used to driving on the wrong side of the road.

It will be just their T&C's of their insurance, thats all. A nice angle but I have been given the use of a car for free bar a £12.50 insurance fee and although its not a nice car, it does fulfil the function of getting me from A to B, just slower and not so safely in the event of a crash. If I was buying I'd get to test the car, albiet accompanied with a sales person which I've never found an issue.

They are putting the car at the top of their priority to get it fixed, so fingers crossed they find the time to do it.

I just felt that confusing me with someone else with the same surname was shoddy, and the initial lack of awarenss with what was the route cause of my cars problem. I don't like the fact you can't speak to those who work on your motor.

Good advice! If you've never 'done' Europe, there's nothing to beat rolling off the ferry for the first time onto foreign roads. You'll have a blast - even if you went in the Ka.

Sorry to read this Steve. A real downer on the beginning of your holiday. I hope it all gets sorted ASAP. Chin up.

Hope it gets sorted promptly given your circumstances. Good luck!

Hope you're not delayed too much and your car comes back in a1 condition!

Sorry to hear this mate, hope it gets fixed so you can keep to your plans and enjoy the holiday.

Awful luck/timing Steve.

Steve

Nice to see you have other options available to you

Very best of luck and hope it all works out. I don't know why, but similar problems have occurred with my parents cars shortly before going on holidays, despite the fact that the cars have been perfect for the other 364 days of the year!

It's called Sod's Law

Steve -

WRT speaking with the tech working on your car. Did you ask to speak to him? My dealer has never been refused me access to the guy holding the spanners

Sorry to hear this Steve , as above better it happened here than on the continent .

Train from Queen St. to Aberdeen takes about 3-1/2 hours , depending which one you get , and would mean you could have a shandy or two at the wedding , then still be OK to drive on the Monday , assuming your car is ready .

If not tomorrow , hopefully you'll get car at some point on Monday and not miss too much time on holiday .

We'll be expecting pics of the trip to be posted as it goes on

Steve - sorry to hear of your problem - here's hoping they get it quickly sorted!

You can borrow my W124 if you like! It seems to be missing the homeland....

UPDATE

Just had a text from Steve to tell me that MB Glasgow claim to have his car all fixed so he is off to get it and start his weekend by going to a wedding then off on his merry way around Europe.

Here's hoping everything works out well for him and that he has a great time.

We'll no doubt see the BBQ piccies when he returns
