SO I was meant to be going on Holiday....

Being a glass half full kind of chap I would have looked at this failure as a result.

Imagine if it gone into limp mode just as you rolled off the ferry in France, what an awful start to the trip.

At least you get it back running right before you leave.

Thats me back folks

Thanks to Tiff and trapperjohn for the offer of the cars for 2 weeks.

It was a brilliant trip, car performed perfectly, the food, the drink, the driving all perfect. I need to get back over there....

I will do an upload of pics/new thread shortly.

What failed on the car was the inlet shut off port motor due to oil leaking from the turbo causing it to remain open. Common fault at £500odd job paid by MB warranty.

MB of Glasgow got the car fixed, made it a priority job so I gave the helpful lady a box of chocolates for her going out of her way to get my car worked on ASAP.

The holiday, again was perfect :D

Glad it all ended happily ever after

Brilliant news Steve! :) I missed the start of this thread as I was on my own road trip around Russia in my trusty Nissan! :D Glad it all worked out ok for you! :) (I think I must try a Europe road trip sometime soon - everyone says how great it is!!)

Steve,

Glad to hear you enjoyed the trip - I've done lots of Euro touring (on a motorbike) and it really makes for an excellent holiday. Look forward to hearing about the deeds of derring do at the September GTG.

Aye fellas, lots to chat about at the meet. Uploading onto facebook and photobucket, bandwidth ain't the highest here.

Thread will follow tomorrow or the next day :D

Steve - glad you got the car sorted and managed to have a decent holiday. Turbo leaking oil? Did they have to replace the turbo?

I've heard that there's been a shortage of pies in Europe recently. :)

Very sorry to hear of your misfortune. I can sympathise with your experience of Enterprise., it mirrors two similar occurrences with me,with no auto car available, let alone an MB.I had a manual Ford 1st time with a ghastly manual Vauxhall the next.
Complaints to Mobilo had no effect at all.

Splitpin.

Glad you got back in one piece mate.

Now I suppose you are even more glad that it went before you caught the ferry, because now you have seen what you would have missed had it gone 'over there'...

Looking forward to the snaps.

Nice touch with the choccies, by the way! :thumb:

Glad you have a great trip - I had the same problem last year on my car. Cost was quoted as £635 - but luckily I had a Warranty Direct warranty that picked up the bill...was chatting to Jay at his GTG and it seems to be a common thing with the V6 diesel.

Hoping that now it has been replaced that that is the end of this problem.

We went to Austria in June - loved the scenery. Just hope you had better weather we us. Off to Clermont Ferrand and then on to Cahors next Wednesday.
