Driving to 'work' yesterday - P500 reg dark green CL in front of me...

Driving back, dark blue (very shiny) P??? reg CL

Get home to an email from a guy in the next village (who found me on a US forum) asking my advice ona - yup P reg - black CL hes put a deposit on.

Mine is/was a P reg.

all within about 5 miles of one another.

I read somewhere there are only about 1500 CLs in the country - 4 seem to be based in chesham, bucks. Looks like I will have to go and get somthing 'rare' if I dont want to be driving somthing as coomon as a bloody mondeo... :p

Spooky or what?  I have this theory that when you buy a particular model of car you suddenly start to see lots of the same model on the road. I reckon this is because you mentally start to "notice" the presence of cars similar to your own whereas before you simply dont see them cos your brain doesnt "register "them. The mind seems to do a lot of this background processing which we are totally unaware of. The classic experiment done in the states was when a group of students were given the task of monitoring a number of basketball players bouncing balls in a basketball court. Particular emphasis was placed on counting the number of bounces of the ball and the group were asked to give a report at the end of the experiment. When asked what about the gorilla? No one had noticed a guy dressed in a gorilla suit who walked across the field of play during the test!! The brain had mentally edited out the gorilla because it was not tasked to monitor gorillas but to count bounces of the ball! Makes you think about the veracity of witness statements at a road traffic accident

Absolutely true - I remember it when my mum got her Colbalt Blue Matiz 5 yrs ago (still got it - still feels like new :)). I remember a/the gorilla test on TV a few while as well.

Yeah I found that this weekend down in Salcombe. It seemed every other car was a silver Mercedes.

Hey Hey Hey ........ none of that here Mr Dewdney !!!

Totally agree with you Grober - one of the main reasons I got mine was the rarity of CL's, particularly in dark colours - can't remember the last time I saw a CL on the road before I got mine.

Had it for aout 4 weeks now, have seen 5 others already, all new shape - what colour was the first one I saw - flippin Black! I even had a Silver one park next to me in a Little Chef of all places yesterday.

Still somewhat rarer than Mondeo's though...

I have a Blue CL500, if there is only 1500 in the uk I wonder if given time they will become a classic like the 560sec has.

car theory

:D

I wonder if this theory would work with a Maybach

When I used the term "elephants graveyard " what I meant was that like elephants cl420's give off an air of majesty, power ,gravitas and longevity. A bit like w124's really only the cl420's are not so rusty!!! ;) ;)
