Glassman here. Been working hard this morning and feeling quite shattered. Had a smashing lunch and now looking forward to a cracking weekend.

Sorry, no more puns.

My name is Paul; I'll get to complete my profile and decorate it with seductive pictures of automobiles and some stuff about me... but I feel a salutation is in order before I do anything else.

I stumbled onto this site after a link popped up in a thread over at my usual haunt, Pistonheads. If you know me, you'll know that I like a bit of a laugh and love making new friends; this is made easier given that my job involves a lot of customer contact. But, it's all about networking and I love the adage that, 'a stranger is a friend you have not yet met'. I'm not here to promote my business, but if you want to know, I should be delighted to share with you (and Admin / Mods: I promise not to gratuitously plug my biz so).

Meanwhile, if you have any questions in my specialist subject: Automotive Glazing Repair and Replacement - I've been in the trade for 17 years and have been running my own biz for the last four... fire away and I'll do my best to help.

I live in East Barnet with my wife and son... but orginally from Slough (when it was a town in England - looks more like Baghdad after a bad night on the scuds now).

This is me saying Hello...

Ciao for now...

Welcome glassman .That,s were i got my car from Slough i managed to jump over the border without any hic ups

Thanks, SS; I don't have, or drive a MB - can I still play?

sure!!! loads of non-merc owners here, but be careful about the rules on advertising if I were you...

MBClub UK Forums - Forum Rules

its always good to have experts on the forum - someone the other day was needing advice on fitting a screen to an older 80's Merc - worried about what Autoglass and the like would do to it...... your input on that would have been invaluable. but beware about the advertising rules!! ;)

Welcome Glassman to you and your family. You do not need to bring an MB to our party to join in. Lots of defectors, as they are lovingly known, still on here.
Welcome again.

A defector :dk:

Seeing I specialise in windscreens, can I be known as a deflector instead?

Welcome to the forum , Glassman .

Welcome :)

So do tell, do those kids who hang out in Supermarket car parks offering free windscreen repairs really know what they're doing?

If I needed a chip repaired I'm more inclined to call a Nationwide brand, or is that just marketing nonsense?

So what car do you drive? If it's a BMW, best keep that to yourself ;)

On reflection, I suppose so...... :D

Welcome!

Remarks like that could become a pane in the glass !

Ok ok one more pun hello from glassgow

Many of them are repair-only specialists. Like with any trade / life in general, some are good, some bad and many are complete tools.

There is something like a 65% chance that the guy despatched by one of the corporate brands has less than two years experience. Having said that, I've seen some of their bloke who have been employed for 10 years and I wouldn't trust them within a 100 yards of my car. But this is not to say that the well-advertised national companies do not have good, competent and highly skilled technicians.

But they're not so common unfortunately.

So what car do you drive? If it's a BMW, best keep that to yourself ;)

The family car is a 2006 Mondeo ST.

HTH

;)

Actually , we'd best be completely transparent in our posts , otherwise Glassman might find his views of our forum shattered . Clear ?

We can normally see straight through unauthorised classifieds ;-)

Welcome to the forum.
