Speaker rattle with Burmeister on new 205 C Class

The car is booked in at Mercedes Benz Stockport on Thursday for them to try and fix it. It's part of the rejection process apparently. We have discussed a new car briefly which i rejected out right and they tell me that to get a full refund and all my money back the decision is ultimately made by Mercedes UK. I dont honestly believe this can be fixed. My car has had new doors cards, new trims, some of which are 'bespoke' after the factory in Germany replicated my issues. None of these changes have fixed it. I'll know more this coming Thursday once i have met with Stockport.
Would be dead interested in how this progresses. How old is your car?

I'm really sorry to hear that there are a lot of issues. However, although I'm not pi$$ing on your bonfire, this is more for those looking to collect numbers.

Mine is fine so far with zero resonance or rattles. The car was registered Sept 15 and I've done about 1,300 miles. The car is the C250 AMG Line Premium Plus and is fitted with the COMAND Burmester Audio. The sound is incredible - best I've seen in a manufacturer install (have seen better aftermarket obviously) but get the right track which is of good MP3 quality and it properly rocks. Plenty of BMW-owning mates are jealous of this over their Hardon-Kardon system.

I wonder if it plays FLAC ... I'll have to try it. But high sample rate MP3's sound fine.

it does play FLAC and other hi def formats. I'm totally with you on the best manufacturer install, just wish mine was issue free like yours. Mines Sept 14 and probably there lies the problem. I suspect they've likely solved the problem on current builds.

My September 15 is fine too...still wondering if the wood trim has an impact, mine is piano black. The folk with issues 'seem' to have the optional wood trim

Piano black - not a trim thing I'm afraid.

Definitely of the opinion now that later builds are fine, MB clearly can't retrospectively solve the issue on older ones though.

Can you reject a 12 month old car with 15k miles on it?

Disappointed in this as had two fault free W204's before this.

Mercedes Benz Stockport were adamant they had fixed it, so adamant in fact that they stated all it needed was a software update. They saw it as almost a joke that the other dealership had ordered so many panels when all it needed was a software update !

Is it fixed...NO !! Its still the same and they didn't even apologise. They were so confident that they had it fixed. Two minutes after collecting the car it was back in the dealership, no better and still with no fix.

The car has to go back now , AGAIN, as part of the rejection process next Friday. This is beyond a joke now. One dealership have given up and stated they cannot fix it so why does this dealership actually believe they can??:fail

Surely to do the same thing again and again and to expect a different result is insanity !!

After 3 days in the dealers my car also has this issue amongst a number of other rattles and squeaks. I'm super peeved now as my hidden dash cam recorded the engineer and service manager discussing the issues and both exchanged that this car will never be quiet, and the customer needs educating to that effect!

Also whilst in the workshop and testing the sound system, the engineer commented "I've been through his list of problems..... And there's nothing fffing wrong with that"

At this point I no longer want to give them the opportunity and will consider ditching this car after Christmas.

That's quite bad. You should consider sending the footage to the likes of Watchdog. But definitely upload it to YouTube :)

any update at all?

It goes from bad to worse......

MB Stockpot refuse to work on the car as the standard of work by MB Warrington had in-validated my warranty. To say its atrocious is an understatement. Glue everywhere where they have tried to bond the speakers and mounting together. Cables all cut, mismatched and covered in insulation tape....

This was just for one speaker ( In the A pillar) God knows what will be found once they start taking the door cards off and get into the dash. Almost 12 weeks in one dealership for this. What makes it worse, no apologies and no ownership whatsoever.

Horrific work, just horrific. I'm now waiting for Warrington to agree with Stockport that they will cover the cost of getting the car back to standard so they can try the fix all over over again.

Dear me. I REALLY feel for you. What should have been a really enjoyable experience is turning into a horror story. It seems to get worse with every step.

I so hope you can get it sorted and put an end to the problems. At least then you'll be able to start enjoying the car in all its glory.

Good luck.

Ant.

in the 10 months ive owned it , its never been right once.

Atrocious customer service, zero ownership from the dealerships and the worst built car ive ever owned.

Shocking, if rejecting the vehicle is on the cards I'd want that agreed now, based on the previous dealers sub standard efforts - an absolute lack of appreciation it's your investment they've tried to bodge a repair on.

Holy cow that's awful!!!!! That should be escalated up to head office and I would also go to the likes of EVO, What Car ... Etc and tell them all about it. Shocking

It's a truly awful state of affairs. Has Mercedes been directly involved? As it sounds like it's time to demand a replacement car or a full refund.

Stockport will not yet accept a rejection as they haven't (in their eyes) been given a fair enough opportunity to fix it due to the vehicle being left in such a state. They have categorically stated that they can 100% guarantee that once the car is back to standard they can fix it, so for a now, a rejection is out of the question. I DO NOT WANT THIS CAR !!!

I have spoken to Mercedes and they are saying that my contract is with Mercedes Stockport and that they need to sort it all out.

I will be writing to the magazines and providing them with images also.

Warrington called me to say they are authorizing Stockport to carry out the work. Yet it wasn't even anyone senior, it was an apology on their behalf. Just appalling.

Have they volunteered what the 100% fix entails by any chance?

I really want to push mine back at the dealer, daren't now invade they try to do a glue and screw job!

Software Tom Foolery

Hey all,

So I have had a chance to run through my car since the last 20 day stint at the dealership.

When we got in the car and tested it, they said it wasn't fixed but was better.
I was able to replicate it instantly with Audio Tool, and they heard it.

After I got home and noticed it wasn't as loud as it used to be, I found they had changed the settings to:

Fader -2 (reduced front volume)
Surround - OFF

And the new software has a fun feature that no longer remembers volume boost settings for bluetooth. Every time you get in the car and connect via bluetooth, you have to re-enable Volume Boost in options.

This is new right? The old Comand software used to retain this information with known devices I believe.

No they haven't. They just said they will now take the car all back to 'standard' and start again. I think its now trial and error. This originally started in May and now it feels like i'm going to have to start from fresh all over again.

Warrington have now authorized the repairs but ,off the record, have stated that they will be amazed if Stockport can fix it.
