Stage 1 @ MSL & resonator delete....

I also deleted res fairly recently and straight piped as others above. I was originally going to go for H pipe but very happy with the straight pipes and that I finally got round to doing it, it really suits the car in my opinion.
Agreed 100% & with the extra vavavoom the remap adds makes it a cracking drive.....

Do you gain any benefits by just removing the (center) resonator?

I'm sensing if you do both centre res + rear boxes that you may introduce droning which isn't great at low speeds / low rpm.

Removing the resonator gives the car a nice note without it being too loud. Taking off the back boxes as well will make the car unduly loud and not a nice experience for passengers on a long journey. I've done the resonator only and it's just right for me. (E63 M157)

Agreed it’s an AMG needs a bit of noise but also needs to keep its classy side for them long journeys

If I had a E63 M157 I would do the same

Agreed.

I'm going to see an exhaust chap at the weekend to see what are the options and the best way to remove the centre res. His suggestion was straight pipe for M157? e.g. no need for H or X pipe that was associated with x219 AMGs / M156

Mine is straight piped and sounds pretty good.
Your specialist sounds well informed regarding X and H pipes.

Mine too. It is louder cruising as well, but borderline whether it's "drone". It's fairly minimal but just be aware it won't be quite as quiet on the motorway for example. Certainly not bad, and I'm glad I did it.

I've had mine removed since July with straight pipes in place & there are no complaints regarding any drone - it sounds fantastic on start-up, idle, under load & when banging through the box..
I particularly enjoy remotely opening the boot & then blipping the throttle whilst my wife or kids are loading the shopping...childish i know but always makes me giggle....

I will be doing mine at the weekend - straight pipe only (for now).

That's correct - I'm enjoying it until I pass the ownership batton :).

All my cars get the full treatment irrespective if I keep or sell them on.

Hope that helps!
Excellent, good for you👍

Could you "accidentally" advertise at a slightly higher price to ensure you get to make the most of it for as long as possible 😉

....not trade-minded nor in to make a profit ;).

Wish we aren't space-constrained as otherwise, I'd be keeping it for an occasional run. They are so powerful, practical and much easier to live with (compared to its Ger counterparts).

Just got back from the 300 mile round trip to MSL & Torqueflow in Birmingham.
Great chaps, very welcoming & knowledgable.
The exhaust was modified first, then they ran a stock power run & it made 525bhp - i thought that was bloody good for a 2012 80,000 mile engine - proves it's been well cared for & serviced on time etc.
Then the map was uploaded & after a few power runs & adjustments we agreed that 625bhp was a healthy & safe figure.
They made me toast it up the road & back a few times to make sure i was happy...jesus, i couldn't stop grinning.. :)
Drove most of the way home in sports mode using the M5/A419/A338 to have some motorway, dual carriageway & twisty A road action - also stopped at a private road & can confirm the acceleration between 80mph & 130mph is frankly alarming..
Met some fellow AMG owners, ate chicken & shot some pool, so all in all it was a good day.
Can't wait to drive to work tomorow morning...:cool:
Appreciate the positive feedback 💪💪

Does the middle resonater box need to be cut off? Ta
low revs - no difference
mid> high and spirited runs - it has the edge and gives you that rasping sound

probably best and by far the most cost effective mod i ever did on 'performance road' car :)
