standard of british driving

And the Oscar for "longest single sentence seen on an Internet forum" goes to ...

:D

sorry I didnt realise this was a spelling and grammer forum

It's not. I for one did find your post quite hard to read though.

Maybe it was written whilst driving a transit at 130 mph and towing a boat....;)

It isn't but if you want your posts to be read and understood why not use normal punctuation?

It exists to make communication easier.

Hey, if we're going to have a grammar thread, can I play too?

Presumably you meant to say "Idontknowhwyeveryonegetssohetupaboutthisgrammarmalarkyiamsurethatitwillhelpglobalwarmingifwealluselesskeystrokes" :D I think my old school master might also have had an objection to "less keystrokes", preferring "fewer";)

I did notice that, but then thought of the the planet and decided to use less energy by not correcting it than going back and editing.
So you have forced me to write this excuse using more keystrokes and therefore endangering more badgers:mad:

Perhaps you guys ought to also learn the difference between a grammar and a spelling mistake................or is that being too pedantic...

Pedantry rules, so go ahead...and I think we can now retire satisfied that we have well and truly hijacked this thread:cool:

This is a joke thread isn't it ?

OP claims to have travelled the length of France at an average speed of over 100 Mph in a Transit van, towing a boat and then complains about the standard of driving in this country.

So everyone criticises the spelling and grammar. Am I missing something ?

I think it is his lack of punctuation that gives the impression it was a Transit....(I hope)

It's impossible to drive from Toulon to Calais in 7 hours, even with a car.

However, perhaps he meant Toulon-sur-Arroux in Burgundy? That's about 400 miles from Calais. Even that would be a big challenge in 7 hours, that's still an average speed of more than 57mph on a route that is not all motorway.

Why the XJ220 Transit of course!

It certainly will and more...and I have driven it:eek:
It was the first engine test mule for the XJ220 program and it was a hoot!:D

It was at Goodwood a couple of years ago fully dressed up as one of the builders vans, but driven by Justin Law, it was something like 4th quickest thing up the hill all week:crazy:

Hang on .... i thought he was joking ....

You mean there was actually a van built with the 220 engine in it ?

Brilliant !! :D ... why don't companies do mad stuff like that any more instead of just sticking chequered tape on cars and transformer disguises ...

Oh yes it's real! It has a full XJ220 powertrain in the back and 220 wheels, the rears of which looked not unlike a twin wheel Transit of the era.
It was bought along with all the remaining XJ220 bits by Don Law Racing a few years ago.
'Of course we will never put it back on the road!' but son Justin had other ideas!
He wins historic Gp C races and has moved house twice using the 220 van. Speedy removals!:D

Anybody else remember Ford's Cosworth powered "Supervan":

SPEED WAS FANTASTIC WITH 68 IN FIRST, 102 IN SECOND, 134 IN THIRD, 165 IN FORTH, AND 196 IN FITH.[/COLOR]

Yeah, right it did.:D

400BHP in a standard Transit MK1 with a nose up attitude....

Mind you I did hear of it towing a caravan from Alicante to Scotland in 12 hours....
