Just bought number two daughter a C270CDI, they say the car has Star Shield and is Merc approved product. Never heard of it before, did notice that on a Black car, bird poo still left (not unlike petrol on water) stain, even when it had only just landed!! (I was washing the car for her)

Wonder if I should have a moan?

Paul.

My car (which I bought 6 mths old from MB Direct) allegedly has it - at least they included it in the agreed price, but without telling me, then separated it out on the final invoice. I'm told it's a way of the salesman making extra commission.
I really can't tell if it's been done - bird poo does seem to wipe off (whereas my daughter's metallic black Ibiza suffers badly - AutoGlym paint restorer gets rid of the marks, where T-Cut doesn't touch it). However water certainly doesn't bead up on the car like on a newly waxed vehicle.
I got a pack including a 'special' shampoo/conserver stuff which I'm supposed to use every month - I dare say if you complain they'll say it hasn't been looked after.

I take your point, but I think if MB direct with their slippery approcah would be hard pushed to say it was not looked after, they only sold it to us 5 days ago.

just a thought - any chance i could be an adopted child - you bought her a car - AND you wash it for her

Ah the joys of being a Dad! Well if you can code in C++, and can modify and train in Microsoft CRM I may consider it :D
