It's not that the places I've asked can't do the AMG finish, just they won't guarantee it because the lacquer can't be properly bonded to the finish and will need to be redone in a year or two. I think it's going to be polished lip and face facts that I'll have to get it redone or painted and not have to worry about them.

That's pretty much the advice I have had, but not wanting to have to have the job done again, have gone for the all over paint.

I think the other alternative is not to have the polished lip laquered. Plus side is it can't get chip, water can't get underneath and it won't go milky coloured. Down side is you have bare metal exposed which you need to polish regularly.
